why not...
they are good fun in the twisties.
they can just be fun.
they are not as expensive to run or maintain.
they are good for commuting.
they could be on their learners.
they could still be on their restricted.
but as Virago says... Drive????

If you are meaning on the road, then it is kinda obvious.
250cc is the biggest size bike you are allowed on the road with a learners or restricted licence.

yup.... what p.dath said. We have a graduated licensing system in NZ.

All kiwis should be forced to do a theoretical test and practical test to gain any kind of bike license.
There should be three kind of categories:
125cc, 16years old, 18KW at the most.
600cc, 18years old, 33kw at the most.
full license XXXXcc, 21years old
All practical tests should consist of two parts, one there you do a "circuit" and prove that you can handle your bike, brake testing in 50kmh, 70kmh and 100kmh.
Second part a test in traffic.
No one is allowed to drive a bike on their car license except a moped.

You have just answered your own question. Simply replace your suggested power ratings with 250 cc and you have it.

one would even venture to suggest that, you will be seeing more and more 250's on NZ roads with the recession and the constant rise of fuel costs. It just makes sense to trade in the four wheeledfaggotmobile for 2 wheels. no offence intended

Aren't they changing the system so a learners can get up to a 400cc or is it still in the early stages?

Well here in good ol NZ we're very superstitious. 250 Is the average arm span of a New Zealand mountain Yeti, which is considered lucky. We motorbikilists need as much luck as we can get.

What the hell is wrong with you people? He said driving instead of riding and the rest of the thread is dedicated to pointing it out. It didn't even need to be done once.

You don't see the irony in making a post to point that out? how about making a post with relevance to the topic?

No offence however it did seem quite a strange question to ask.
