say waingaro road to the pub, looser pays for piss.

we used to race from nelson to Berlins pub, in the buller gorge back in the 90's...

i usually lost, but we had fun, 10-15 riders going hard out... some even had to stop in murchison for gas.. hahahahahha

but then there was only the one cop and he had 2 hiding places.... he used to get all the out of towners..lol

Pft! A real man would organise an underground Targa for motorcycles. Auckland to Wellington via a series of special stages. Be a pain in the arse deciding the route though. Would take a huge effort to include East coast roads like the Waioeka gorge and the West coast faves. You could do it though man.

Haha. Started a thread about this years ago. The consensus was that it would be unlikely for a whole heap of reasons. The high risk of serious injury on public roads. The lack of corporate sponsorship available for motorcycling compared to 4 wheelers. Difficulty getting the roads closed for a "bike" event, etc. I think it would be a hoot but the potential for carnage would be galactic.

yeah most of the roads are lined with wire fences cage vs fence's happen enough in the normal targa so a bike vs fence is likely and wont just end up with a dirty bike like the cagers:doh:
