Thanks for the info.
I know there is a TV3 +1 added and some Aussie channel; but Prime is actually something I might watch.

You'll be fine for 2 or 3 more years - at which time the old analogue broadcast system is being turned off.
Then you'll have just static to look at. :)

Me too. Just heard about this. Did the re-scan tonight and bingo! Got Prime. All I wanted was Top Gear. Which is just as well becuse a quick check of what's on prime's weekly schedule and the test pattern looked like better viewing.
Do Prime show any Superbike or MotoGP?

As well as pointing the dish in the right direction, you also need to get the Freeview box to lock onto the satelitte.
You cant scan for chanels until you have first hooked upto a transponder.
All the transponder codes you need are available on the net.

I just got the Freeview terrestrial edition a few weeks ago after finally getting sick of having crap reception because my VHF and UHF aerials were kaput from storm damage. The picture is beautiful and as soon as I got home tonight I ran autoscan to get Prime loaded and it looks a bit better than the old reception.

More than likely the dish is not correctly aligned. What is the signal strength you are getting from the satellite? I'm guessing it is probably zero.

One interesting thing I have noted about Prime. I have a Sony TV with a built in digital receiver.
If I flick up and down through the channels and I can not change to Prime. I can only select Prime from the guide.
Tried turning the TV off and back on again at the wall. No different. Something about Prime seems to be different to the other channels.
Weird.

Assuming you have all the antenna cables connected up okay ... it can be pretty tricky to align the dish. Literally tapping it a few times can be enough to move it out of alignment (before you do up the bolts).
It's probably worth spending the small amount of money needed to get a professional out just to align it for you.

I'm on terrestrial with built-in tuner and it's all good (W series Sony Bravia). Took Sky long enough to cave in huh?
I'll now be able to end my unintended boycott of Prime. Was only a press of the "analogue" button away but without it in the guide you sorta forget about it.

Figure it out. Had to tell my Sony to do a scan of the digital channels again. I think because Prime was not allocated to a "button" (like 1, 2 or 9) it wasn't making it eligible for selection when pressing channel up and down.
Interesting enough, Prime does not seem to be transmitting in HD (at least nothing I have found yet). But I don't care about that too much. Just good to have them across.
Now if only Juice 2 would move as well ...

Thanks for the heads up...been waiting for ages for Prime to go free view.
It got a bit expensive keeping Sky basic just for prime.

They're not broadcasting anything in HD as far as I can tell. The Prime channel shows as 576/25 on my TV which I'm fairly sure is 576p with 25fps.
TV1/2 for example show as 720/50 and TV3/4 shows as 1080/25. That's always the same so I assume they upscale SD shows to the HD broadcast or something to that effect rather than changing the broadcast format.
In the case of Prime that would mean even if the show is 720p they'd have to downscale to fit the 576p broadcast.
That said the quality of it being in digital is enough to make it look closer to HD anyway.
