Many restrictive articles remained, including one that appears to give a husband the right to starve his wife if she refuses to have sex with him.

It also says that he can withhold this (financial) support if she refuses to "submit to her husband's reasonable sexual enjoyment", according to a translation of the article supplied by New York-based Human Rights Watch.

I found this article interesting because I had a friend who denied her man on occasion. Apparently he used to go absolutely septic on her, throw tantrum evens. I would have laughed my arse off, but she used to give in and let him have his way.

I told her that this was a form of abuse and that she needed to sort it out. She left him.
