I am changing the speedo drive on the front wheel of my GB400, and it doesn't have a centre stand. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the front wheel off?
Preferable without getting one of those "easy life bike stands"...
I need some novel ideas :)

I that on ALMOST all bikes, judicious use of a car trolley jack under the engine, with the bike on the side stand will lift one or other wheel. If the front comes up, all good. If the rear, just push down, or put a load on the back.
The exact positioning of the jack must be determined by trial and error. Usually a block of wood atop the jack will help
I also suggest some side supports just in case.
Alternatively if your gargre has exposed roof beams, thread a large truck type ratchet tie down over the rafters and just winch the front end up.

Yep, what he said. The jack in the boot of your car will do the trick also.
