So with the fall out of this brawl between AGS and Kelston last weekend the judiciary hearing was today, do you think the 16 months for Kelston players is a little harsh compared to the 4 months for the AGS guys?

If it is true that Kelston did start the fight then i suppose there is a little justice, then again in rugby retaliation is penalised just as harshly by a referree.

Personaly i dont care, as long as Rosmini (my school) beat Massey tomorrow then we will be playing a weak AGS side or a MAGS side that finished 4th this year.

Thoughts on this whole debacle? Surely its been blown way out of proportion!

Males of just about any species fight, for supremacy, for woman, for food, for whatever, its instinctual.

So long as there was no 4 onto 1 bashing then so what. Made for good viewing, I reckon a few of those boys would do ok if they got some boxing training under them..

Its a pity they got punished to hell and back for it too, poor buggers..

Something for the media to get excited about on a quiet day?I find it a little odd that theres such a fuss about this but blokes like Colin Meads n co are held in such high regard, back in his day punch up was perfectly acceptable, the difference today?more cameras.

6wk ban for the players that WERE to play in finals.
10-16mths for players who's season was over anyway.
Quite fair.

Rugby is fucken gay and the fact that a little punch up in a college rugby match made the news is just encouraging it... like the hero parade.

Weren't many whities there were there? Apparently AGS has an Arab winger who is pretty handy though.

To be honest im over the whole rugby thing at the moment. Too much of a good thing i think

They should of just waved to each other.

Unless of course some rode Harleys, or some had sprotsbikes.
In which case it prob was all over who did, or did'nt wave.

Either way, I guess League has some new recruits.

What happens on field stays on field.Any sport should be the motto.
If cameras weren't there would it be such a big thing, think not,the PC dogooders win again.

The suspended guys will go to league.

Unless it is pre-meditated assault on field during the game then it should be taken further, but a brawl like that wasn't pre-meditated.Was one guy pissed with another, happens in any sport.

Wouldn't happen in All Blacks now, they're too farkin soft, maybe someone needs to give a bit of biff, they'll cop a suspension for a week or so,but might help give the team the lost tough guy factor, which has been missing since John Hart had input, just like warriors are soft,we know they're stupid, but thick and soft is not a league team winning formula, ala state of origin biffo.

I can't stand rugby these days. When I was growing up, I loved it. Sean Fitzpatric, Zin Zan etc... It was a mans game. Now they're more worried about wearing their fucking eye-liner, it's pathetic.

Richard Loe, that mother fucker knew how to get into some scraps ha.

NHL has it right, 1 on 1 fights allowed, no sticks or gloves or helmets, go until they hit the ground, that badass.

PC brigade going overboard

The footage of the incident was bloody tame compared to brawls that have transpired between Christchurch Boy's High & Christ's College during their annual rugby matches, mostly instigated by spectators/ex pupils..... shit there wasn't even as much publicity when there were over 20 arrests made at one school/college match:Police:

It's just a bunch of rugby boofheads doing what rugby boofheads do be it at a match, at a party, walking down the main street. Shouldn't be tolerated.

Yes, with leadership like that, why would one expect better from the schoolboys?

Maybe, maybe not. But the people who say the “old boys network” isn’t a factor anymore need to turn over a few rocks……<_<

Eggs-fuckin-zactly.
I think it was a great opportunity to make an example of these neanderthols and their piss-poor behaviour thats typical of the (younger - in particular) rugby crowd.

I'm not against a scrap, it happens, but dragging someone off the ground to smack their head in is just plain stupid.

Agree with this point, since lowering the age of drinking,I noticed quite a few guys pissed and causing trouble after games, this at midnight and later, and not only rugby, but all sports. The difference scrapping at that time can lead to police charges,on the field this rarely happens.

Coaches need to be aware when any team drinks in public they have club colours showing,I personally know in Taranaki a few older guys stay and try to keep a lid on their younger guys, steering them away from brawls while in bars.Funnily these young guys look up at the older guys with respect, something this club is heavily into.Is bloody hard to get sponsors if guys you are thinking of sponsoring come along at midnight and smash a window or two of your business.

There's a surprise..... I wonder how many of them were also "old boys".....

Speaking from experience, playing against Grammer back in the day was about hard-ass rugby. You knew you were playing for respect. Kelston...they just wanted to fight and didn't give a shit about the rugby.

I'm with you with a little scrap on the field to sort issues out. What I don't go for is pricks off the field starting the bullshit just so their side can win

1 on 1 on field is fine and most of the time justified. It's not just to start a fight. These pricks on the side line ran onto the field and started taking out players. Fuck that! That's got coward written all over it.

Why the fuck should honest players have to worry about supporters running onto the field and bashing the shit out of them?

That ain't biffo. That's an attack.

What's all the bullshit about fairness? They were in the fight and they got dealt too off-field. Stop the poofter crying and HTFU!

I guarantee if it was only 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 no off-field punishment would have come from it. But a full-on brawl, in my opinion, should be dealt with hard.
