Well, bike has been acting like a dog (one day after I get it ffs!)

Stalled with clutch in (WTF!?!?) - was on a hill so I let it roll alittle and only slowly (takes ages to electric start!)

So there I was - rolling down the hill slowly in 1st with clutch in - let it go and.....

WACK! My nuts hit the tank.

First painfull lesson I had on a bike. :shit:

well thats good to know because alot of dealers dont accept faults likes that
they tend to find ways around the warranty very easily

As long as you didn't leave two testicle shaped dents in the fuel tank, it's all good.

Most likely too small to be noticed ... :chase:

Use 2nd gear for that, bro.

My GT250r had a rooted battery for a while, I was able to solo jump start it on the flat(car parks etc). You looked like a retard scooting your big bike along but drop it into 2nd and it would spark up.

Wouldn't that be "Bump" or "Crash" start? "Jump" is to jump from another power source using cables.

Correct. That's bump or run starting. Jump starting is using an alternative power supply to the battery.

v-twins ain't easy to jump start even in 2nd gearYeah. My vtwin 650 is basically impossible to start on the flat without a helper. The bars are too low and narrow, and the seat is too small to safely push and then leap on. The GT250R is a bit easier, but the comet is piece of cake.

Do you think maybe petrol tanks should be contoured to take into account the frequent occurrence of nut crushers? With some soft padding....

hehehehe, although I must say it's not completely painless for us either when we slide forcefully into the tank.

So what, you start off with the bike in neutral and flick it up into 2nd? is that easier than pushing down into 1st?

He didn't say he ended up in the gutter.

Tell me about it! I had to bump start the FahrtSturm a few times, and if you didn't come down on the seat with all your weight at Eggs Zachary the instant you popped the clutch (and then, didn't whip it in again quick), it'd just lock up the rear wheel.

First is no good - it's geared too low. You can use it, but 2nd (or even third or fourth) is more betterer.

Ohhh haha I've only used 1st before. Should I be starting in neutral?

Wrong.

Most bikes shops are good about these sorts of things.

Because unlike you, they have heard of the Consumer Guarantees Act.

Good news:
Crushed nuts = Good compression

Second gear for bump starts.

True, I doubt anybody bump-starts a car in 1st gear so why try it on a bike?
@nd or even 3rd is the go.

The trouble with bikes is they are too hard to push when in 3rd gear while holding the clutch in, so for most it would be 2nd (Unless you're on a reasonable hill)
