Hey all,
Have posetd some time ago on this site about our hope to make the move to NZ permenant.
We have just returned (meaning myself, Wife and 3 kids) from a short holiday on the North Island, we have now secured residency and the main reason for the trip was to get the passport stamped and visit family. Being back in the UK looking at the photo's now..
We did a few of the touristy things again this visit, chatted to a couple of guy's on Bikes and now pushing to make the move permenant, I have to let the Wife get herself sorted with employment as she is the Techy one who needs the demanding role, me I just need an open road and a job that funds the bikes.
I noticed this visit that your Road service people have developed some alarming habits, some of the road works we encountered did not have sufficient warning and if I had been on the Bike stopping before the road ran out may have been a challenge, in addition I noticed a number of times arrows painted right on the apex of some hairy corners I suspect the Buell would have twitched a little on.... That is not to mention the amount of Cow dung.. I would say after our trip in 2007 versus this trip the road teams seem to have less concern for Bikes and Bikers IMHO.
You have a spectacular country, and I can't wait to call it home.
Be Good and keep the wheels turning..

We look forward to your arrival. There can never be too many bikers on the road. Unless they're on the same piece of road as I am...
Look at the South Island too. Still plenty to down here to trip up the unwary ... but still biker paradise.

Good luck, could be difficult in this current economic times but by no means impossible.

Fuck mate! Welcome to NZ!
You have a spectacular country, and I can't wait to call it home.
Onya :niceone: Although you should be made aware that incoming Citizens are prohibited from buying anything other than Yamaha's or Kawasaki's so the Buell will have to stay home sorry..

That's the treatment you can expect for burning their queen.
If you like NZ at this time of the year, you will love the summer. This is probably the worst time of the year for debris on the road, being wet and windy.
NZ doesn't need any Health and Safety standards as they have ACC to pay for the avoidable injuries :)

Not any more they don't, have'nt you heard there's no money left in the coffers anymore now that they've paid out for all the bullshit artists ripping off the tax payers now leaving actual deserving people high and dry... Sorry 'bout the rant but it's quite a close issue 'round here at the moment.

Once there has been a few Health and Safety big money law suits, perhaps things will start to change for the better.
IMO - In the event of ACC funding being required to fund care for injuries sustained through poor H&S practices, they should be able to sue the negligent party.
May be this would help the cheese cutter campaign.
Maybe the council should be liable for maintaining the roads without slippery drain covers on bends.
What about potholes? We pay tax for the roads to be maintained.
etc.etc.
Just a thought.

No problems with the Jocks usually up for a bit of banter what with them being generally crap at all sports except hurling which is just sweeping up energetically.
Yams and Kwacks not such a hardship, pondering on brionging the Buell as had it reversed into in april and it took the main dealer 3 months to get the bits for it and that is in the UK.. maybe sell here and pick up a Ninja 9 or 10 over there..
