It had 15000kms on it when I bought it.
10000kms all weekend riding.
One set of belts...just to be sure
Desmo valves checked
Headlight guard...as stone hit the original $$$$$$$$$
Filter/oil.
air filter
Plugs.
Rear tyre
14 tooth front sprocket
Oxford heated grips

likes: great fun, easy to work on, loud.
Dislikes: um......um..... the clutch sound is a bit irritating at the lights.
Bars could be a touch less severe.... maybe some risers.

Just need to sus out a nice tankbag and some throwovers for the summer, any reccommendations?

The 2000 model revision lifted the bars about 20mm and that made a significant difference so maybe look at that?

They're certainly a nice bike, glad you're enjoying it.

Oxford make nice throwover and tank bags (ie they look nice, zip out to HUGE sizes and are reasonably waterproof, even without the dopey showercaps fitted) at OK prices. My Oxford throw-overs were great for the Blackbird, but are a bit hopeless on the Tuono - they seem to work better where there is a vast expanse of pillion seat to throw them over. Oh, and they rape your paint work if you don't tape it up or scuff-stop it.

re luggage I made my own brackets up to fit a givi mounting plate and top box

4 bolts and the entire assemble is removed

modified (removed) the rear grab rail and used where this had bee removed for the top 2 mounting points

givi do not make a rack for the later 900ss anyway, plus the givi systems mount everything about 4 " higher than necessary anyway

I have some bar risers that would fit your bike. They are NZ F1Engineering ones. They make for a much comfy ride and are higher.
Brought them for my 04 1000SS, but found I enjoyed the low bars better. Each to their own I guess.
So they're on the shelf.
These ones.

I have the same bars as popelli and they make it so much nicer, they came with the bike so I don't know who sells em. I think my seat might be a touch too hard myself, looking for an after market one. Whats the 14 tooth sprocket like? Mines standard and had a freakin shed load of torque, it'll lift in anything up to fourth gear. I've got wide open termi pipes, K and N filter with an open box and a power commander with the right eprom for the mods so I want to try taming it down in the bottom end and giving it more top.

The 14 tooth sprocket just takes the gearing down a touch to make it a bit easier to ride round town and under 100 kms on the m/way.
You probably don't need it with all your goodies....
The bars are Gilles variobars...I googled them and :gob:

Ive just bought the same sprocket as well for my 999s.And as for the clutch noise, its the first ducati Ive owned.I said to the shop you would never know your engine is going to blow up until it stops, with all that banging and crashing going on inside

a hell of a price new, I scored mine off flea bay for a far more realistic price

they turn up from time to time, don't just look under ducati either, the importanmt dimension is the fork leg diameter, mine were originally on suzi gsx, had to drill the tubes to get the switch gear locating pins located, apart from that no other differences that I noted

Yeah I just checked and I have a 16 on the front so 14 would be insane on mine. I check the price myself and Jesus Titty f'n Christ! The previous owner of my bike spent some money on it. Every mod is a top of the line piece of kit.

Good for me though, theres almost nowhere to spend money except on good servicing.

The best money I spent on my '92 900SS was in getting an Ohlins shock for the rear. The original Showa unit had too heavy a spring and wouldn't really absorb shocks. (It was like a big solid block of rubber.)

Before Ohlins: WHAM - WHAM - WHAM - WHAM
After Ohlins: thuck - thuck - thuck - thuck
