Looking at thei http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=236502532 and currently looking at 4400 without the screen or 4500 with it.

1) is this a good deal?
2) is the screen worth the extra hundy

This is subject to an inspection (worth it?) - anyone now someone that does inspection house calls in Auckland?

Anyone know of a place I can get cheaper transport to wellington than 250 (apart from the obvious fly-up-drive-down option)?

Shaun does this. Check out this thread:

Frosty frequently offers his services as well.

I should be going to pick a bike up from Wellington-way in two-ish weeks time. We should be able to organise something.

Give George at Motorcycle doctors (http://www.motorcycle-doctors.co.nz/) a call. He does pre purchase inspections in auckland, and his reputation speaks for itself. he is THE BEST.

And also as a person who has owned a 250 hornet and now moved up to the 900 I can go have a look at it for you if you want, just send me a PM. That hornet looks mint and at the right price too, and with those kms is virtually brand new.

so he accepted the offer of 4400 and i text him this morning to try to arrange a pre purchase check. he didn't get back to me until lunch time and said that he just found out his hours got cut and he can't sell anymore. I guess he meant he can't afford to upgrade anymore. Bugger. My search goes on - Pirate, it doesn't look like i'll require your services at this stage. cheers for the offer.

Bugger mate, looked like a minter! They are excellent bikes. I own one myself and have no regrets in buying it whatsoever. Dunno if you'd need the screen, they're supposed to be pretty good and deflecting the wind away from the rider though. Anyone had experience in this area? I reckon they're a bit ugl, but if they're practical then all good!

Good luck in your hunt for a bike mate! If it's your first bike, don't go getting something too nice and shiney as you're most likely to drop it at some stage in the game.

Something like this may be ideal for you, good bikes that pickup nicely. Bit cheaper to maintain than a Hornet aswell due to the smaller tyres (one downside to owning a 250 hornet!). These bikes are much cheaper too, AND they're in wellington!
