Go for a walk up Barrys point road or try Colemans and Red Baron in the city.
Most Auckland dealers seem to have a reasonable range.

Check out the Wiki for gear in Auckland:

I would also highly recommend the two KB members, 1Tonne and QUASiMOTO (links to both of their we sites also on Wiki on same page).

If you want to try lots of stuff on, and a variety of brands, styles, prices, etc., go to Motomail or Cycletreads.

Cycletreads do have a good range, they can be a bit bad with the service but.

You're best bet would have to be Boyd's in Hamilton.

Yeah they're pretty good I must say. Also of all places the suzuki dealer in MT Maunganui (Hewletts road) has a pretty surprising selection upstairs.

Just expect to be ignored and recieve no service what so ever at the second one.
Oh.
While I've browsed the bike gear at Cycletreads, and bought tyres, brake pads, oil etc. there, I've never actually bought any bike gear, so I wasn't awre of this aspect. They do have a huge range though, so if you just expect them to be like a wholesaler and don't expect to be waited on, I guess they'd be OK?

Yes. You are dead right there. Unfortunately they are'nt a wholesaler and they're not cheaper than anywhere else. So somethings gotta give.....

No expectation of a nose in my ass but a simple 'hello can I help you' goes a long way.

I have edited my previous posts about Cycletreads.

Yes I recieved appauling service there several times in the past.

However that was a few months back now, and I do go there and keep spending money myself, and no-doubt will keep coming back with my friends for new gear.(who still need to get it)

My last few visits have been actually very very good, in-fact better than some other stores service wise....(maybe someone read one of my dirty pre-edited posts? :niceone: )

And no-I was'nt bribed into changing them!

I guess it depends on who you get one the day, but it is very un-fair of me to have lumped them all into the same boat.

I like Cycletreads - there is usually something there that is pretty cheap and they do have a good selection. Also I have got some really good technical advice on my bike when I have had a few problems with it, so they get my thumbs up.

Me too. PLus they get extra points because you can ride right up into the shop.

Quite the opposite really. Each time I've been there I've been approached with a "Hi" and asking if I needed assistance for anything.
Good folks who talk with the customer about what is required.

A great distraction when the bike is getting the black donut's attended to!

I just bought a 1tonne jacket off trademe. I'm a 6'1 lanky bastard, so i was worried that it would be short in the arms, but they were bang on. It's a little short, but I'm planning on getting some armoured pants soon anyways.

Anyways, just wanted to say I was impressed with the quality, it's a nice piece of kit.

If your willing to wait a week or two and no someone in the US I would suggest trying on gear at say motomail or the likes then going to motorcyclecloseouts.com and having a browse on their site. Managed to get my Shift vendetta jacket for $280? nzd including shipping, goes for $550 at motormail and around $600 most other places.

Cyclespot's new shop has a good range and seems to be growing all the time.
