In 1978 I worked with a storeman who could do the Jetsons's car. Hey Phil - pass me the knife...

It's properly run in and none of that hijinks stressed the machine. That's the selling point (if there is one) it copes brilliantly - even with my weight. Felt like it didn't go close to bottoming out.

The Dorsoduro is a nice bike... just a tad heavy for a proper supermotard is all.

It's either that or a broken frame...

Only on the spec sheet.

Don't get me wrong, if there is one thing all motards need it is a 750 V-twin...

The Dorsoduro is more than 170 kgs though, right? (I haven't gone to have a look because I couldn't afford it anyway, and I'd like to remain satisfied with my measly Husky 610sm.)

Haven't checked - Co-pilot said - 'jeez it's nimble.'

Hmmm, Bikez.com (dunno how reliable they are...) says 186 kgs... that's fairly obese as far as a moto goes. I guess it won't be an issue unless you take it into the rough so to speak.

Don't get me wrong, I would quite simply love to have a "light" supermoto with a 750 ccm V-twin...

In 'normal' use it's irrelevant anyway. Height of COM and balance are more important.

mmm 250cc more for 10kg... I like my 990sm :devil2:

Indeed, irrelevant until you have to push it uphill for 25 meters because you can't gain traction

(And yes, I know, it's a motard not a dirtbike... but adventure and all that...)

My Buell weighs 195. It's an interesting comparison. I really like the Aprila - and it makes the Buell look good too.

The XB12X does a lot of the stuff the motard does quite well - not as wicked fast, but strong enough, plus it's comfortable, takes a passenger and has good touring potential.

The weight isn't a problem to me.

They all have road tyres - if you iz dumb enough to try and hard case ADV ride on non-knobbys you probably deserve to be pushing it. :-P

No word - but then I haven't asked.

I'd be interested in the bigger 'ergos', but it doesn't really need any more chutzpah for road use.

Not for a road bike in the current policing regime. It just becomes a frustration of wasted potential. I have the most fun solo on 60-70hp bikes on the road.

You can pin the throttle and ride the thing instead of just idling everywhere like a big pussy.

That's the beauty of it - didn't come close to stressing it. It's a 750 BMX.

Yep - nice donk indeedy. Very even. Modes are nice although I have trouble taking it out of 'sick'.

I had my first "big" service on Friday. 20,000km service intervals on these 750s. That's an estimated 20,000km, given that the speedo has been intermittent since March. Plugs, air and oil filter, oil, sundries and labour worked out to about $420. At least filters are available...

I only use the S mode on mine.

Yes. The R (rain) mode flattens it out. It would be a good mode for an inexperienced rider riding the Shiver/Dorso for the first time. T (touring) perks it up a bit and S (sport) is quite edgy and very responsive to the ride-by-wire throttle. Fuel economy in T and S is more or less the same, unless one is caning it, which one does do on occasion.

Did you get the front up on the throttle, Dave, or did you clutch it up? One understands that the Shiver's front can be popped at about 7,000rpm in first.

30kph and bang the throttle hard. Cover back brake.
