Yeah Baby! :Punk:
What a fantastic day I had yesterday. Got the blue lovely out of the garage and tinkered about a bit with her. Just the usual pre-ride checks really. Tyre pressures, ok, chain adjustment, ok, lube chain, engine oil a bit down, top up oil. I had noticed the previous weekend the rear brake needed adjusting, so did that. Decided to change the position of the gear change lever on the spline to bring it up a fraction too. All systems go, so we went.
The weather was mild, grey skies but no real threat of rain, the plan was to head north and maybe catch up with a bunch of riders from the SAR at Waipu.
Now my bike has been experiencing some fuelling issues over recent times and I am experimenting with the type of gas I am using. I also wanted to find out what my tank range was running a higher octane fuel, so my plan was to ride it till reserve. The excercise also involves riding it harder than I would normally, to encourage the fuel starvation problems I have been having under sustained throttle anywhere between 5k rpm and 7k rpm, and to see if the higher octane fuel made any difference to that.
I can safely say that the higher octane has made a distinct difference to both performance and distance covered. Still an issue there, but nowhere near as bad as it has been.
How refreshing to just be able to ride without the bike coughing and spluttering. Dry roads, no blustery wind to contend with, warm weather and a bike that was behaving. The further we went, the more I enjoyed it. Just in the groove and doing it! Isn't it just the best feeling? Anyone else have a good day out and about yesterday?

I'm still convinced that the lowspeed jets are partially to blame. The moment the slides are lifted, the bike performs just perfect.
Still, she's way better since she had some work done, parts and some longer-distance use. Just ride her and enjoy.

Yeah, I did. Thank you for asking.

Possibly running a bit lean - higher octane gas will alleviate some hesitation but won't fix it completely.

Yeah, I got out for a quick spin yesterday. Awesome riding day. Not too cold... dry roads... pretty darn good actually. Hadn't been out for two weekends so managed to blow away some cobwebs and had a ball. Not a long run but a good quick one. Felt awesome.
:) :)

Good to hear you're back on the bike and enjoying it!
Didn't get the bike out on the weekend but we did take the MX5 for a spin. It's the next best thing, of course... :innocent:
Then, I do get to ride my bike everyday to work, so a weekend break is not a big issue for me...

Rode today Mom, me an 10 others from the BFTP (Blast From The Past) went from Albany to Mangawhai via all the know backroads, we had a couple of good ol boys up from Napier to help us celebrate our 1st Anniversary ride.
Weather got a bit dicey towards the end but we all had a great time and every single OLD Bike (nothing younger than 1990) made it home unscathed.'Hope the blue lovely behaves well and takes you lotsa places this summer.

The blue lovely had any mods done to it, Mom?
Just trying to think what might be causing your fuelling issues

No see, it is all about the lead into things. We had dinner, we did dishes  We tried to watch the mind numbing drivel dished out on TV. Settled on some music DVD's and a few drinks. Not sure what time we actually hit the sack, but I do know it was not long before my daughter got home and opened the slider at the top of the stairs, interrupting our ummmmm attempts to get to sleep :o
Life is sweeeeet!

Thought at one stage a UFO was incoming only to realise after a quick peek through the curtains, it was the Westpac Chopper landing at the soccer ground. The normal pick up point, this is at about 1.30am.

Great to hear that you are getting to the bottom of Blue Lovely’s fuelling issues Mom! Does make such a difference to your enjoyment of your ride when your bike is running well.
I went for a wee pootle in the rain yesterday. Thought I could do with some practice, smooth throttle control, braking etc. Apart from all the diesel, my foggy visor, and stupid arseholie Tauranga nana drivers, AND also discovering that, once again, my exhaust will need to be re-packed *arrrgh* Still......I enjoyed my little ride.... and got home with a big fat smile on my dial!
