I was riding home last week, well outside the curfew time for my Learners licence, and came onto the motorway at about 160 k's an hour, checked my mirrors to change lanes, and see the old red blue red blue red blue of the coppers..
I'm like oh man, why was i riding that fast?!
So i pull over, the officer comes and has a chat, somehting like this -
Cop "how fast were you going?"
me "too fast?"
cop "yeap, where's your licence?"
me "um, here sir"
cop "learners eh?"
me "sir"
cop "what were you doing this late at night?"
me "visiting my friends at navy sir, then going back to base" (i'm in the royal new zealand airforce)
cop "airforce eh?"
me "sir"
cop "dont call me sir, i know what people like you call sir, i was in the RAF and i ride bikes, go buy a fookin lottery ticket and go home"
me "thanks sir"
so i rode home about 10k's under the speed limit eveywhere, and have been keeping to the limits since..
Goes to show what good coppers there are out there.:done:

Sounds like that cop needs some retraining, They are employed to give out tickets.:innocent: perhaps you should have reminded him.
Reminds me of the Aussie panel beater who discounted me $400 off the repairs to my car when I told him I was working at the navy base in Sydney, Silly fucker even thanked me for doing my bit for the country.
I was out their to dig a freakin ditch.

Just wondering... what percentage of our armed forces have taken a bullet in the line of duty in the past thirty years? Don't happen to know do ya?

Servicemen and woman pay taxes too, and I'm sure work hard. Just have the added danger of being sent a war zone every now and then

I'm sure a VC was awarded not too long ago... yep, I'm pretty sure:wari:
And the NZ army had a contact in the stan a month or so ago. But you maybe right, they weren't actually shot.

Cool. Now add those figures to the stats on NZ police officers being killed in the line of duty in the past 30 years and compare to workplace deaths... now tell me who the true heroes are.

You just changed the subject. You asked "Where's my free ride?" and what were the dangers. I just gave you some examples.
The police also have a dangerous job, very observant. :Police:

I didn't change the subject. I asked where my free ride is and gave a good reason... Because I go to work every day and statistically I'm at more risk than any police officer or serviceman/woman. Do they deserve getting let off on speeding tickets because thier job supposedly saves our lives? For all you know I could make life-jackets for a living. Does that qualify me for some piggy-patriotism?

You kind of got to wonder though if people get ticketed for 10km or less over the limit how 60 over equates "using their nouse".
Oh and personally, if I did get let off under such circumstances - I'd shut the fuck up so as not to cause a furore and risk the cop (the guy who just did me a favour) coming under fire for doing a good deed.

I didn't even think - I saw him and just drive straight into his radar beam - imagine the surprise when he pulls me over?
Now some twit is riding at 160k on his fucking learners, outside his license conditions, and walks away?
Yeah right. Fuck off. The cops can be really fucking selective on who they target. Cops, service personnel, and any others deemed worthy can do anything and walk away - ordinary people get nailed to the fucking wall.
Yeah right. Fuck the pigs. I have had it up to fucking here with them.
