Frenchy’s VMCC 09 Round 4
Traditionally late as usual, since my accident Frenchy took over the reigns of Tweety to keep up appearances at the winter series, Round 3 was a bit of trial and error, but was a total hoot for me to watch Frenchy racing Tweety round the short track. I turned for a second after the last race to miss seeing Frenchy pull a stand up wheelie after splash :innocent: Fast-forward a month to round 4 on the long track and Frenchy’s first race report:
Post Classic Jnr Practice/Qualifying:
Frenchy’s first time on the long track but it was warm and dry, I was worried a little as we had clearance issues on the short track. Still scraping the pegs and fairings, Frenchy qualified in 19th place with a 2:20.1
F3 Practice/Qualifying:
More relaxed now after checking out the long track, Frenchy qualified with a 2:18.1, putting him in 25th on the grid. I was impressed with him dropping 2 seconds off the bat and a little worried he would kick my PB next time out!
Post Classic JNR Race 1, 5 laps:
Frenchy got a good start and had some good dicing with some Snr bikes, I was hoping he was figuring out not to go too crazy round them as they’re in a different class. He caught Stevie on the 600 and passed him! Highlight for me was the huge stand up wheelie on the cool down… I had no idea Tweety could wheelie soo good! Frenchy dropped his PB to a 2:15.9 and finished in 8th.
F3 Race 1, 5 laps:
I hoped starting quite far back didn’t put Frenchy off, it didn’t and he got a great start. He was at the front of a chasing bunch to some faster bikes. What an exciting race to watch as he slowly lost the bunch and caught up to Glen on his NSR and a 450, I was stoked! They battled with an SV, who got the upper hand and lead Frenchy over the finish line with Glen close behind. Frenchy kicked my PB with a new one of his own, a 2:14.0 and placed 13th in F3, wicked stuff!
Post Classic JNR Race 2, 4 laps:
Down to a sprint race as the day was running late, Frenchy battled with Stevie who managed to get the upper hand. Finishing with consistent 2:15’s he placed 9th in Postys, still wowing the crowd with some awesome stand up wheelies on the cool down lap, I was getting more used to seeing Tweety’s front wheel in the air!
F3 Race 2, 4 laps:
Nailing the start, Frenchy was up dicing with some faster SV’s and a 450. We watched a nail biting battle with the SV, it was awesome… Frenchy was really getting the hang of the 400 and corner speed, going round the outside and up the inside! They battled till the checkered flag and he crossed in 11th place, with an awesome new PB of 2:13.5!
Overall Frenchy placed a very respectable 9th in Postys Jnr and 11th in F3. He did some awesome stand up wheelies and managed to not only scrape Tweety’s pegs, but half the fairings too! I think its time to jack her up a bit before the next round!
Was awesome to see Dave, Donna and Jamie from Kiwibike Insurance Brokers checking out the excitement again. Big thank you to Paul, Dianne and Team Showerbuddy, Dunlop tyres for keeping Frenchy rubber side down (he did save the front a bit more than I do!) Thanks to VMCC and volunteers for another great day! Cheers to everyone for the support and warm wishes. Frenchy and I will catch you all at the 2-day in September!! :Punk:
