How is this bit of road? (apart from the odd shooting!)
Its unreal.
I rolled in to the Mobil there with my tyre just about jelly.
That gorge section with the big sweepers is particularly juicy.
Saw a few bikes on my travels, WHK to Wairarapa via Rainbow Mt, SH1, Vinegar hill, the Paihatua track to Martinbourgh and then back up via the east coast, Gissy and through the Waioweka gorge.
Took a couple of days, 1 x speeding ticket near Danniverke and finally got the last out of the supercorsa.
Nice ride, but the napier to Wairoa was the best!!!

Totally agree. The road keeps you alert, the scenery is brilliant. And there is a nice pub 1/2 way where there is no mobile phone reception, so you can enjoy the drink in peace. I do that road now and then when the urge comes over me to blow off some cobwebs.

Want to do it Labour weekend from Palmy to Wairoa.

The road was dry, no loose stones, no shit - absolutely great for once.
So long as it doesn't rain before labour weekend, should be fine. If it does, then watch out for the diesel on the road - that is one road that's bad for it

I did it in Jan and it sucked big time! Not the road design cos that was awesome but the bloody tar was completely melting and had to stay well away from the car tracks as once you hit those slidey slidey! Can't wait to go back and do it when road in good nick.....

Thats also nice. A bit of a dodgy road surface closer to Gissy on that hill...and the smell of bacon!
And goats and turkeys.
Saw 3 different lots of goats, all on the shoulder scoffing grass and gawking.

Can't forget the ducks! ............... Mum walking across the road with a row of her babies trailing behind on Sunday just gone.
Yeah, the road from Wairoa to Gisborne is great. You'll love it. :niceone:

I went for a spin last week, I havent seen to road in such good condition. Yes plenty of goats, just dont freek them and they will leave you alone. We had one jump out in front a few years ago when my mate on a TL with Twin-Bro cans blasted past.

Yes one of the better twisty bits of tarmac in the North Island...right through to Gisborne....and beyond Gisborne is pretty darn good too around the East Cape...but the petrol stations get further apart!!!

It's a great road.
The only real downside is that it takes you to Wairoa.

Too true (although my mum makes a mean bacon and egg pie) and if you keep going it takes you to Gissy, almost as bad!

However there is a positive side to this: When you turn around, the same brilliant road takes you to Napier!!!:niceone:

True, or if you're in Gissy you've got the option of a good fun road through the gorge or a long interesting fun road round the coast (all roads in but especially out are good!)
