It's mah Birthday, so I'm organising a bit of a get together :woohoo:
28th/29th of November, camping at Fletchers Bay at the top of the Coromandel.
Make your own way there on the Saturday - either explore the interesting gravel roads on your way up, or turn up early and go fishing. I'll be spending Saturday mountain biking with my 'other' friends :wari:
Edited:
We'll have a bbq on Saturday night. Bring something for the barbie, and some drinks.
I'll organise a bit of a ride for the Sunday morning over to Stony bay.
Bring your tent, your togs and your fishing rod  And $9 to pay for the camping.
You can bring your family, but please don't bring any dogs

Ah, 21 again eh?
Despite my first thoughts on this weekend, my personal organiser (Nicky) interfered and reminded me that my son is getting married in Brisbane that weekend and for reasons that escape me, I am expected to be there.

Bump! :woohoo:
Only a couple of weeks to go now :wari:
The plan is pretty much unchanged: Assemble at Fletchers bay on Saturday evening. BYO bbq-ables and beverages. I should be able to rustle up some bread and vegetable-y things, in exchange for some assistance in the kitchen
Families, fishing rods etc are welcome, but dogs are not. (camping ground is surrounded by farmland, so they don't allow dogs in the area)
Sunday we'll go for a ride around to Stony bay.
I'll be otherwise occupied on the Saturday, but someone (MXNUT?) was talking about leading a bit of a ride up to Fletchers bay.

Just got back from Whitianga. Locals reckon tapu-coroglen road is closed for the next two weeks for slip repairs. We may have to do the lower loop anti clockwise to get to the start of 309.

Food for me please Rosie:niceone:I'll score some meat from a wandering Bullock on the way up, might even bag a goat/Turkey/Bunny Wabbit.
Was gunna bring the XRL up, but the scrambler likes a gentle pootle up the coast, so Trumpy it is.
Anybody arranging a meeting time at the Kopu pub carpark?, or are we all just meandering up.
Edit. Saw MX's 10.00am meet.I think I will be leaving later, so I'll cruise up by my lonesome.

All packed and ready to go.
We will see whoever is left ( Rob & Colin ?? ) at the kopu pub at 10 ish.
Spoke to TCDC about the tapu-coroglen rd, it is closed for repairs about 10 kms from the tapu end for 500m. The lady thought that we might be able to get through on motorcycles but did not know for sure.
We can decide what to do in the morning, could always go through tairua then over the 309 into coro that way ???

A big "thank you" to Rosie for inviting me to her b/day party:woohoo:
Great to meet some of your friends and family, and the weather was very kind to us, with only the very occasional light shower and cooling cloud cover.
Clint did an excellent job on the BBQ, and the smell of bacon cooking this morning was the best incentive for me to shug off the hangover, and drag myself out of the tent.
A nice gentle pootle back down the peninsula with the added pleasure of seeing Nick n Paul on the Coro Thames section.
Only downer was not seeing Baabaraa this time, but the lads with the blow up doll added the required twist.:2thumbsup
See you lot again soon;)

I still have a bit of work to do editing the stuff nicely. I prefer the music over the sound of the wind and exhaust etc. Yutube is a bit restricting on Copyright, :Police: but sometimes stuff does get through. I have Mealtoaf on one video, no issues there with Copyright, or Oxygene or some ACDC, it is weird...
