Came across this video on Youtube about the Bimota Tesi bikes and wondered if they still make them as wiki seems to have no info on the bikes. One thing I do like is that instrument cluster.

Crazy front end suspension - wonder how well it works?

It works very well. Better than standard forks. Complex though.

Yamaha did the GTS touring bike which used center hub steering. I think it was the only production bike to use it. Motorcyclists are too conservative for it to sell well.

Cool tanks for the links. I have to say I find the bikes from Bimota very interesting and good to see them experiment with new way to build a bike.

Apparantly that front set up is way superior to conventional bikes but as Skunk said, motorcyclists are must to stuck in the old ways to change.

Yeah I love the Bimota's too, check out the SB8R for some a little more realistic.

They did well back in the day when the japs made great engines but put them in frames that were somewhat lacking. Taking a jap engine and putting it in a sexy and capable italian frame was the best of both worlds. However now that the japs have sorted frames their market's shrunk somewhat. Would still give my left nut for a Vdue but.

They were really pricey bikes and had a reputation for super high quality.

If I remember rightly, didn't they hang themselves on a revolutionary new 1000cc 2-stroke engine?

"If this succeeds, we succeed"

"If this fails....................."

Oops.

It was 500cc. The Vdue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bimota_V_Due), that and the fact their main sponsor pulled out owing them shitloads. But since 2003 they're back at it, best of luck to them.

Here is a 1991 Bimota Tesi which was available back then to the market at, of course, a premium price.

Honda used to produce a bike with a similar style of hub-center steering. Only it was a sports tourer rather than a hyper-sports.

According to google, the Honda model name was the GTS1000. I have seen them come up on trademe from time to time.

They still make them, they are superb (espec the all carbon fibre one) and fit me well, except for wrist angle. Unfortunately, they are rather expensive...around $50k over here. They have the 2valve 1100 Duc motor.
