Man dead after car and truck crash (Source: ONE News)

ONE News

A 34-year-old man is dead after the car he was driving collided with a truck in northern Manawatu on Thursday.

The crash happened about 4.30pm on Rangatira Rd, near Hunterville, police communications Inspector Marty Parker says.

The man was alone in the car, which appeared to have crossed the centre line into the path of the 4.5 tonne truck.

The truck had two people and eight cattle on board, he says.

No-one was injured.

The dead's name will not be released until next of next of kin had been told.

i call very few people on this planet "friend". Young David was one of them. David was born in NZ but raised in the US. he had a beautiful young American wife and an absolute star of a 2 year old daughter.

he worked as an equipment sales rep for my company where we met and we instantly hit it off. we went to concerts together and had gutbusting phone conversations almost daily and of the 4 people in NZ that have ever swung a leg over Spooky, he is one of 2 to ever ride her. ( even though he was a Spewzuki fag)

when we went to Iron Maiden, i got a little carried away on the party supplies and all 5'5" and 75 KG of his midget ass carried my 6'1" 120 kg dead weight from the front of the mosh pit to the rear of the floor when i'd had enough to keep me from getting killed

respect and friendship are earned with me .. a few people on this site know that and are in that circle ( you know who you are ) but Davids death leaves a hole thats gonna be difficult to fill

Bit close to home, mate. The team at Sulco were always like a family. Sure we had our characters there and the usual personality differences, but we all looked out for each other and helped each other.

I still have good friendships with current and former staff, so to hear of one suffering a tragedy like this is sobering.

Condolences to yourself and the others who liked him and to the company. And from an ex Sulco rep, to his family as well.
