So heading back from Paraki hot springs today, i noticed a sign nexted to SH1saying MX $2 (Well it was a blur)
This was on the round about over the motorway at silverdale and SH1. so carriered on a bit heading back to Auckland. and notice a mowen track with pegs marking the corners on the little road that goes to Snow planet and the go-karts. And there was another sign saying the same thing?

Couldn't turn around to check it out as i was on the motorway:pinch:.

Anyone else see this??? or wants to check it out after Ken Fells tomorrow for the KB fraternity?

Might just be a new player in town.

My understanding is that there is an event tomorrow (fathers day) at the site you mentioned. Just up the road from snowplanet. A mate of ours was telling us about it think maybe its listed on silver bullet??

could be worth a nosey, interesting to see if its a one off or a regular thing.
we wont be able to scope it out as we are heading to the dirty old sandpit tomorrow

shall check back on this thread and see if any other punters attended.......

Thanks to Scuba Stev
here are the details.

September 13th Club Day
YEP, new track and only 15 minutes north of the bridge, located corner of S/H Silverdale and Snow Planet Road, track is already mowed and is looking awesome, hot food will be available on race day thanks to the Red Beach surf life saving club, BIG thank you to Roy Herbert for mowing our new track in, this land is awesome and we are very lucky to be able to use this land again, previous meeting was some 15 years ago, Thank you to George Painton for allowing us this great piece of land.

Hopefully it won't be a dusty day for them.
Beeing right next to the motorway.

Discard anything about the $2 stated earlyer i was mistaken. Ute was in hyper drive at the time, so it could have been honesty box pricing or something.

Practise days?

no practice days, no regular MX track, it is just the land owner charging spectators to come watch the RMCC club day next Sunday

this brings a thought to mind.

typically mx gets a pretty poor spectator turnout. do you think if clubs started advertising a little bit and charging spectators say $2-$5 to get in they would get more spectators?

speedway for example is less exciting to watch than mx, yet people are quite happy to pay $10-15 each by the thousands to come and watch. or the v8s, people pay heaps for that... lol

and with speedway the competitors do not pay entry fees, but the show is geared to the crowd,

Think maybe location would be a factor too ?

There was a huge turn out for the Red Bull City Scramble thing, and MX is way more exciting to watch IMO.

it was sorta well promoted, and the location was in ya face, whereas to watch MX you usually have to trek out abit and follow funny little arrows (I have issues with funny little arrows - my funny little eyes are so busy scanning for them they forget to look at the funny little road sometimes :weird:)

100% right with the location comment,

MX tends to be run for the riders, not for spectators, mostly by volenteers,

Mx is a hell of a lot more exciting to watch though as the others said. Be cool to get a bit more exposure

sadly the masses disagree with you, as car racing pulls consistantly bigger crowds,

i think that MX needs to be marketed a lot better, but it struggles a bit as there is a lack of different winners at times,

Yes I agree. Its hard to make a minority sport bigger if nobody wants to get on board and support it.

Classic. I live just 2min away and I ride next door to the track on a friends land. I saw the sign and thought, 'Sweet! $2 mx riding on Sunday'. I didn't realise it was just $2 to watch :(

I hate it when you have to pay to watch your own kids compete. Its happening in all sports. Dont we pay enough with entry fee's.:angry2:

The $2 is going to surf lifesaving, not the land owner
