maybe looking at $600ish with capt transporter.

I've used them twice with no problems. but you'll always have someone come along with a horror story about transport companies.

use the search function you're bound to find more info

I've used Captain Transporter in the past and yes the bike did get damaged.
To their credit, they asked me to get it fixed and supply them with the invoices.
I did this , they paid me that back inside 1 week.
They could have got their insurance guys out, but the damage didn't warrant it and Tony(Anthony) dealt with me directly.
I would use them again.

It runs but has no WOF etc. as it's a new import. Would love to ride it up but....

But what... get a warrant and ride it. On another note, what bike is it and what size?

Biketranz and MotorcycleMovers are two companies that ship bikes.

Christchurch to Whangarei would be a fun ride.

A lot of haulage companies wont take bikes - or if they do, they will only transport them dry. Use a specialist company like BikeTranz or Motorcycle Movers. I have used BikeTranz once before to take a bike from Wgtn to Otago and found them to be efficient, reliable and reasonably priced. Plus... no damage to the bike!
