Not at all.

We are all very proud of you.

I am so jealous that I am considering the same on my CT110.

I'm just a bit worried about climbing the ups at <5kph on the clutch slip. I may even slide back down.

Anyone care to video it for me?

Anyone know a good place to get a Will written?

Anyone know if the life insurance co will pay up?

While your head is in oversize mode its very easy to search out more congratulations by doing an even wilder stunt, so I would be being really careful right now if I was you. Come off your buzz before the next one please.

Not dissing - just being aware.

I think Inspector Tooman's comments are entirely spurious - seems to me they'd be prosecuting him just because they can.
"Mr Bennett could face charges of reckless use of a motor vehicle, careless use of the motor vehicle, or endangering transport."

I don't see there was any danger to other motorists, and given Craver wasn't on the road at any time during his escapade, it's stretching things a bit to prosecute him under various traffic laws. I'd say to pull off this stunt was far from careless or reckless, but more very careful and carried out with utmost concentration and due regard to safety. "Endangering transport"?!? Pffffttt!

Or you could go with TV3 and get their lawyers to support you if you have to defend yourself.

If the old timers are right and it was done before on a motorbike then I'd be interested in what precedent was set then. Personally I'd love to see the video.

Funny stuff this.

Good luck and hopefully you'll re-visit the TV3 thing. I can't see how being on TV3 will make things worse. Clearly there is already enough proof.

The only thing I can see is if you publisize it more the police may choose to deal to it on that basis. It'd be great to see what the legal opinions are.

Well done. Insane. But well done.

pzkpfw
8th September 2009, 09:15
The old bridge over the Manawatu had arches like that bridge. Back when I was at Massey I used to walk over that bridge at night. Thought I was pretty cool.

No freakin' way I would ever ever ever be able to (or dare to) do that on a bike.

So whatever else, that was quite some combination of skill and balls.

If the powers don't want the stunt repeated, they could put chunky things on the bridge, like those studs the council puts on benches to stop skateboarders.

But they can make the Mormon Few pay for them.

P.S. Wheelies are cool.

(Another thing i can't do.)

ok next trick, take the tyres off & do this; not current legal road so no legality drama. go-awn!:pinch:

The Clifden suspension bridge spans 111.5 metres over the Waiau River, and is the longest suspension bridge in New Zealand.

Settlers depended on a ferry to get stock and supplies across this dangerous river. By the early 1890s the Government funded a punt attached to a wire rope until the bridge was built in 1898-99 taking ten months to complete. It was opened on 5 April 1899 by Sir Joseph Ward.

Southland County Engineer C H Howorth designed the bridge anchoring the cables into limestone deposits. The tapering towers are 7.5 metres high, the steel cables weigh 28 tonnes and the decking and beams are made from heart totara. The bridge is 3.5 metres wide, and acted as a single lane bridge for horse-drawn traffic although traction engines were soon towing lime and wool over it.

Trucks and cars traversed it from the 1920s and it remained in use until 1978 when the current bridge was opened downstream.

Maybe we could think of him as the humourous Ed Hillary of Hamilton?

Not seeing too many of your achievements posted up, but if we did how would you react to someone calling you a "try hard"? That's usually reserved for those that try just a little bit too hard & fail, fail he did not ;)

Your comments just smack of jealousy to me or those of someone who really wishes he (Carver) had attempted it but failed, either way you wouldn't have anything nice to say :oi-grr:

I would have thought a call to Hamilton City Council would be useful. Assuming it's there bridge. My guess is not a police issue unless HCC want to go down the trespass lane.

For HCC this seems like a great opportunity for some viral marketing for the city. If they link in with the vid Hamilton wins big time. Of course they should send some boys out to stop the stunt being repeated and make noises about getting consent in future.

And yep Carver does tend to over promote himself and you still have to admit it's an impressive stunt. Over promotion ain't that bad a thing.
