Red/Black, just like the picture I originally posted. Looks much better in the flesh.
I'm so excited
And I just can't hide it
I think I'm about to lose control
And I like it

Duly traded. The banana bike is actually a very cool ride, much better than its specs would suggest, and I'm a bit sorry to see it go, given its history, but boy is it nice to buy new or what?
Zed: I'll be annoying the hell out of everyone next week with the running in tale, and then the post run-in rides. You can be sure of that! :)

Dunno - I've never owned a new vehicle.
So tell me, Jim - if I'm not mistaken, wasn't buying the BigBananaBike a real big deal, and at the very limits of your finances at the time? So, what's happened? Have you won Lotto, or has your 'woman thing' been PodPerson-ised by space aliens like mine was? :spudwhat:

It's a bit personal and involves Govt. dept. and bank screw ups, coupled with the Privacy act. Suffice to say that the equity in our house now belongs to the correct people: My lovely wife and me.
This is also my 40th Brithday present, 8 months early. It really was too good a deal to miss out on, and Sawyers (Brendan in particular) have been bloody fantastic to deal with. Good thing my weekend is filled up with kid stuff, and MotoGP on Sunday night to keep me exhausted on Monday to alleviate excited vehicle purchaser syndome.

Well that's really great, Jim!
I'd wanted to get a newer, bigger bike before my 40th too, but it didn't happen. Still, as it turned out, it didn't matter.

Ha ha - I know that feeling! Although my last couple of purchases weren't exciting enough to deprive me of sleep...
Just savour the anticipation while you can, Jim - it's almost (but not quite) the best part. :niceone:

Lucky man :niceone:
Noooo, he's *not* a lucky man. He's a hard-working middle-aged bastard (well, he will be, in 8 months) who deserves every little bit of the nicely-sculpted lump of shiny plastic and aluminium that Sawyers will be uncrating for him on Monday.
Luck ain't got nuffin' to do with it.

Lucky man :niceone:
Well, I dunno that 'luck' has much to do with it.
He took a wodge of (presumably) hard-earned cash and bought a bike with it. More the result of his own labours than any good fortune.
Edit: well that was mental, posting almost the same thing as jr at the same time.

I have just returned from Motorad/Sawyers. The ST was in for its 18,000km service.
I have seen said R6. It has a "Sold" sticker on it. It looks lovely. And new. It has greasy finger marks on it. They're not mine. It looks very new. And lovely. The workshop has the keys in readiness for the things that workshops do to new bikes before their adoring owners uplift them. Did I mention that it looks very new? And lovely?

No doubt he is a hard-working middle-aged bastard ;), but luck has also had a part to do with it. You can't deny that luck or chance plays a significant part in life. He's lucky to be at a point in his life that he can afford to buy a lovely, new, lovely R6.
I can't help but grin thinking about getting a new bike like that, it must be like being a kid again :).

Good on you Jim, you are about to become a bloody legend again. There is something special about letting your heart rule your head if you can get away with it, and you have! I know the GSX was the most sensible choice for you at the time you bought it however I did wonder how long the relationship would last (felt kind of like when a mate is going out with some bird that you think is totally wrong for him).

Don't know about legend, but I am expecting to be a cripple until I adapt.
Will have to stay drunk during the weekend to be able to sleep.
So it's a normal weekend for you then, just like the other 51 weekends of the year.
Well done Jim giving into the urge and to hell with the mortgage. My new motto - don't just leave the Kids the house, a house is not a home without a mortgage to repay. They'll appreciate the gift more having to pay for it themselves.
Yeah it sure is a buzz getting a brand new bike. Bugger about the running in, but do it right.
This mid life crisis is a beaut excuse. How many times can we use it before the woman catches on?

You sick puppy, I think you need professional help. We all know that throwing a leg over a lithe red head, preferably Italian is far more satisfying (we are still talking about bikes aren't we?).

I mentioned on another thread that I saw Lynda and your bike at Motorad this morning - looking good!!
I was wondering about why you would trade the Suz so quickly especially me being a man who keeps bikes for nearly ever. I always buy new and keep them long enough so that the depreciation gets spread over a long time and that way you have no worries as you know the bikes are in good nick.
Being a bit tied up travelling lately I never got on a ride to see the banana bike in action. I'm off to Aus for 2 weeks at the end of this week on holiday and then am home for a week and then go back to Aus for work for a week, so you probably won't see me on the road soon but I will one day make another KB ride to spot the R6 in action.
