YEP ME ME ME!!!!
As per my "broken CR250" thread, possible overhaul needed. I was gonna start tearing it apart today but if I can bring it down it'd probably be better to do so with all the parts strapped on still. Save me losing stuff :-p

You better order a piston kit mate.
just a thought on your CR, could it be the reeds?

Yeah I was just thinking that. Will get on to it. Would it be easy enough to check by removing the reed block?

ive just checked with one of suppliers they only have the A1 piston in stock but i can phone in the morning and double check as online is not always up to date prob with a1 is its the 3rd piston so on an 05 with out it havin heap of heapp hours it might be tight. in saying that may be best to bring in strip down then order parts once prob found can always stay one night again next week to put back together.

Thanks Barty I appreciate it. Should I call Botany Honda tomorrow and get a price on bearing kits too? If its run a bearing it'll need replacing I guess.

i run pro-x in mine, standard size, mine's upto nearly 200 hours. check with scott411, his pricing is always good :)

its fairly safe to assume your damage is limited to top end damage. whatever the case may be you will need a little end bearing (the one that goes within the piston) the gudgeon pin (the pin that connects the piston to the conrod), the circlips that hold the gudgeon pin in the piston, the piston itself, and the ring, and a base gasket. dont bother removing the head unless you've lost a lot of coolant during the last ride
thats
piston
ring
gudgeon
circlips
little end bearing
base gasket

I thought so but then thought 200hrs on a piston... that's a lot haha

i should clarify, its done about 3 hours on the current piston. i was meaning the engine in gerenal has done nearly 200 hours. suggesting that unless its done heaps more i doubt you'll need an upsized piston

my supplier brings in prox so i would guess scott is usin the same one so if they dont have chance is he cant get either can check for wiseco as well but not till morning there are cranks and conrod kits in stock though as well as gasket kits
strange there are conrod kits which do 02-07 and full cranks which seam to change through the same year range some changed ????

7th September 2009, 21:54
i know the cylinder is different, the piston is different, the 05-07 runs 1 ring vs the older ones running 2, different ports, diffferent exaust, different radiators, different jetting, theres heaps of small shit different. 05-07 is all the same though

although having parts nice and handy at the time is always great personally i would not go ordering any bits untill it is known what exactlly is wrong no point assuming what is wrong or rushing it for the sake of a ride this weekend better to wait and order everthing a once cause who knows what your going to find. specially if a shop has to order it in then it can be a hassle to return some stuff if not needed

on the other hand, it doesnt hurt to have a top end rebuild worth of parts for your bike sitting in a drawer for next time even if you dont need it right now - assuming your wallet allows this.

Yeah for sure. And I wouldn't expect to be riding this weekend unfortunately.

Yeah what i was getting at though is if you end up worst case having to sleeve it or something piston sitting there would be useless to you as it would require a different one

Com'on... it's not like Boooom would've past a servo at Mercer :shit::wari:
I have to say a big thanks to Aaron for opening his doors to a new face and a new bike (well not exactly new haha), you are like the salvation army for broken bikes. I'm bloody well stoked that the prognosis isn't as bad as I had first imagined, now for a top end and to figure out why it lost its coolant.
Good to meet a few new faces last night too.:done:
