New cam chain and tensioner. I think they are $80 each from memory, so about $250 fitted to the bike by a mechanic .

mite find it's a bit more than that my chain was $115 by itself.
mine hase done 46k and got rattely because of the chain AND tensioner
otherwise it could be the lifters need re shiming but I dont think so at those kays
should not need a rebuild unless the compretion is down or smoking

From experience the ZXR250C had a slight problem where the cam chain touched the top of the rocker cover (easily seen when you have it off)

The may well be "witness" marks where the chain touches, and after a few K's the chain (even though it's new) quite often will touch again.

I used to "relieve" that area with a Dremel and never had a problem after that.

I guess I have fitted about 30 cam chains to ZXR250's over the years.

you have to split the chain and rivit it back together :buggerd:

so if you can do that its easy
just pull the cams out and make sure they go back together in the right place

there is a thread on her somewhere about it
find it and read it

it isn't hard but make sure you read it first and follow instructions
cam and crank have to be lined up before you pull it all apart
also you need to count the number of links between cams :2thumbsup

the hardest part I found was splitting the chain :)
maby aftermarket chains have a link in which case it's a lot easier
