Spears Enterprises, an industry leader in high performance and service of all Suzuki motorcycles, has joined forces with RICOR Racing Shocks, the world's leading manufacturer of inertia-active suspension systems for street and off-road vehicles, and today announced a partnership to develop the Intiminator for SV650 Racing.

The partnership will see Spears Enterprises playing a significant role in testing the SV650 advancements of RICOR's Intiminator, the first patented inertia-activated front fork shock absorber designed to fit motorcycles and the only product on the market that detects if the wheel is trying to move or if the chassis is trying to move, resulting in a more stable chassis and a faster wheel response over bumps.

Spears Enterprises will use years of research and development experience, gained while developing products specifically designed for the SV650, to help create the next-generation Intiminator.

"The Intiminator is an amazing item. This is the first product I have ever worked with that gives the racer/rider such confidence and allows them to concentrate on going faster," said Gregg Spears, owner of Spears Enterprises. "All of our test racers have won all of their races since changing over to the Intiminator and have set many new track records for their class."

"Spears Enterprises is a dominating player in the worldwide racing circuit and has championed the courses with its innovative approach to racing," said Brian Falter, owner and president of RICOR Racing Shocks. "Intiminators are becoming an increasingly prominent tool in track racing. This is one of Spears Enterprises racing strength, so this partnership is a logical fit."

Spears Enterprises-sponsored rider David Raff has taken first place in his first 6 Intiminator-equipped races while at Buttonwillow, Infineon and Thunderhill raceways and has also set new track records for the 650 production class.

I'm not persuaded.

Once set, the Race Tech emulator provides the same compression dampening throughout the stroke, IF the stroke speed remains the same. Not exactly. The force as the shock is compressing should remain constant with varying speed - thats the whole point of a varying shim bleed.

The intimator requires the fork lower section to actually move (while the valving is still firm) before it opens and relieves its pressure. This is going to pressure-spike and then suddenly release in my opinion.

They better have put some clever thinking into that release valving, because I cannot see how it can meter and place a constant force like a spring-loaded emulator or a shim stack.

Lets see the dyno charts, spears.

Intimidators for DR650... (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=96174&highlight=Intimidators)
Been looking at em as an alternative to emulators for the DR. Nordieboy has been playing with them for a few months, not sure i want to go through the same process =\

They come and they go and with US companies you always have to sift through the hype. I will look at anything with an open mind but its interesting that they have ''picked on'' what is only intended as a commuter bike, so its easy to make improvements. How about a real test in MotoGP or WSBK? That usually sorts out the men from the boys.
Its noticable that some of the mainland Asian shocks started off with a hiss and a roar in Australia, but they are where they are at, cheaply made, average and with sales blurb misrepresentative of their actual performance and quality. If people want cheap thats fine, but that is what they also get.
