View Full Version : Fixing errors on registration documents?

The registration document for my 68 Bonnie shows the year as 86 and the one for my Speedmaster shows the wrong cc.
Both are just clerical errors so what hoops do I have to jump through to get them fixed and am I supposed to pay for their mistakes to be corrected?
Cheers.

The 68 and the 86 are identical surely??

Oh I dunno... I think if I had an '86 Meriden Bonnie it'd be worth a small fortune.

Probably need a letter from the Vintage Car Club stating year, but cheap rego awaits!!!!!
I got a letter from the Triumph Club in the UK once for rego purposes, but that was in the UK.

There were heaps of mistakes when motor registration was put on the national computer or whatever - I guess spending day after day typing in meaningless crap when you'd rather be home rooting your boyfriend could lead to a few mistakes along the way.I see it all day,but who really cares apart from a few nit picky owners....?

The last time I registered my car I put down that the colour was blue. The lady at the post office asked me "are you sure your car is blue? It says here it's grey."
Asked me if I wanted it changed, I said yes, she clicked her mouse, typed a few letters and said "Done, your car is now officially blue."
I'd assume it's the same for the year a bike was produced.

I'd assume it's the same for the year a bike was produced. That helps out the police, and costs nothing to change. The year however affects taxation, which unfortunately is something they care about.

We had a Sentra SGS a few years ago... it appeared as "SG3" on the rego labels.
LTSA said it couldn't be changed

My bike is registered as 2008. It's actually a 2007 but was first rego'ed in 2008.
No big deal - I ignore it...

Same here. I imported an 07 ABS model from the USA and because the ABS wasn't available in NZ until 08, they wouldn't accept it was an 07.
The VIN actually provides all of the correct and irrefutable information about your bike, with lots of websites available to decode it.

There are better manufacturer specific decoders around the net.
