View Full Version : Phil Goff on a hog!

Can't believe it. On the TV3 news Phil Goff (as in the Labour party leader) pulled up to an interview on a hog.

Sure he was wearing a suit, dress shoes, but he did at least have a Shoei helmet on.

Somehow just didn't look right.

Glad I read the whole thread. I took one look at the title and I thought the video of him shagging Helen Clarke had got out.....

I was cleaning up after giving my two children dinner, and just caught a quick scene, and was surprised. Didn't get a chance to take much in. I'm not even sure what the news article was about.

Good for him for riding - I wish more of our politicians did and understood the pleasure of straddling something powerful between their legs (gawd knows Helen didn't ).

Shame he did not have the foresight to get decked out in some Quasimoto gear first.

Definitely (http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/2857089/Triumphal-arrival-for-Phil-Goff) a Rocket so just goes to confirm that the average jounalist here in Godzone doesn't know their arse from a hole in the ground and proves it by stuffing up what little credibility Goff is trying to manufacture

If New Zealanders were stupid enough to vote for change (despite this meaning a right wing government during a recession), then they are dumb enough to be influenced by this.

I am no fan of Phil Goff politically or otherwise but in fairness to him I believe it should be clarified that he has long been a motorcycle enthusiast! :ride:

The fact that he turned up to the Labour party conference on his bike is quite normal for him. :niceone:

It was not a political stunt! :oi-grr:

The fact that he rides a Triumph almost negates his stupidity in choosing the Labour party to represent! :o Then again..............

........but "Triumph", he got that one right! :first:

For the elucidation of the great unwashed, the reporter was correct in referring to the Rocket III as a "hog". Despite myth to the contrary Harley Davidson has no exclusive claim to the word "hog". They DO have an H.O.G as the H-D Owners Group - buts thats as far as it goes.

No matter how much they might wish otherwise (http://books.google.co.nz/books?id=mS38Lo5VVjMC&pg=PA631&lpg=PA631&dq=hog+term+motorcycle&source=bl&ots=0tmaJUHFG7&sig=j36J-2mGUIy4AjrAeowAUnQtGzA&hl=en&ei=beCtSt3aJ4bgsQPi68CFBQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4#v=onepage&q=hog%20term%20motorcycle&f=false)

And there's me been thinking all this time that it was a bunch of Harley flat-trackers that coined the 'hog' name.
Or something like that.

Never ever heard of another brand being called a hog.

Not quite  the "hog" term came from one of the original HD factory racers who had a pet pig and used it as a mascott way back in the old days... ie: Pea-shooter days

Looked llike Goff was on a Yellow Triumph Rocket III on tonights news
