There are some injustices that can never be apologised for. This is one example. I applaud Gordon Brown for doing this, but it has a hollow ring to it.

Indubitably, though hopefully it may highlight for some who are either scathing or sanguine about the sanctity of individual freedom just how recently in Western "civilisation" it was acceptable to physically punish those who are different from the norm.

Is it a positive or a negative that one knows about Turing and his ground breaking contribution to science, but has never heard of this side of the history?
