timely reminder of a Clarkson witticism, "nastier than syphilis, and twice as hard to get rid of..."

I asked for a tank of gas for my lada once and the attendant said sure that sounds like a fair swap.

He doesn't say if it has a radio?

He says no extras...radios are extra.Anyway,a radio would distract from the pleasure of driving.

I've driven one and while I could describe it as lots of things, a pleasure wouldn't be one of them.

... a miracle.

Why do Ladas have heated rear windows?
To keep your hands warm while you're pushing them.

Yes,I think $1500 would be a good price.

Except the seller's username;

I think he would part with it for $1500 if you waved the money under his nose....

Ixion

Yes,I think $1500 would be a good price.

Not if it doesn't have a radio. The radio is essential.

The seller sounds pretty dodgy , too.

He might be a little unbalanced being in love with a Lada, but at least it gives him a purpose in life. You don't need a radio these days with those iplod things anyway - you can download heaps of free music from Russian websites.

I went to a pub quiz where a lada was first prize. Second price was 2 ladas.

What do you call a lada with twin exhausts?
A wheelbarrow

How could they ever had thought an italian design made in russia would have been a good idea? They could only have been worse if the italians made em as well.

had a teacher with one once. A couple of friends and I argued with him about it a few times and in the end the only point that he could defend was the fact that it was good because it has all the parts listed in the manual with their metal/material content so the thing can be recycled efficiently...

my son got one , cost him a dozen beer , only had something like 50000 miles . got him to work and back every day , totaly reliable , he got rear ended with no damage , japper that hit him left in a cloud of steam and broken plastic. He backed into a power pole again no damage. when he finished with it got $500 on trade me .
It was a little car that had a bit of character.

I suppose you get reliable Ladas and unreliable ones too. Luck of the draw really, probably just depends on how hungover or pissed the factory workers were at the time.

safest car on the road in Kyrgyzstan......to slow to get hurt and in the best of KIWI ingenuity, can be repaired with fencing wire.

True story
My ex mother in law lived on top of a fairly steep hill. Halfway down was a concrete water tank. -She raced home one day for her wand/broomstick/cauldren and forgot to put the parkbrake on.
The odvious happened and lada rolled down hill right on into the water tank. It put a bloody great hole in the tank and was wedged fast.
Once the water had run away she got into the car started it up backed up and drove away. Only damage was a busted headlight
