Shoei Pinlock

Hi all, does someone have a pinlock visor that they can measure up where the holes go, yep going to drill mine (have enough of them and dont need anymore - yet).
Brought the kit which unfortunatley doesnt have a template only the pinlocks and the screen (I read overseas you get a template) well if anyone can help - Thanks

It's a nerve wracking experience alright. What I did was carefully lay the pinlock on the inside of the visor, make sure it leaves enough room to close etc (measure twice, cut once). Drill the first hole while offering up a prayer to your favorite deity, fit that end of the PL and mark the other end then drill (still praying) I had to slightly elongate the hole in the PL to fit but all worked out good.

Havent seen a pinlock system before but couldnt you just put twink/paint/whiteboard marker/whatever you have on the pins that go through the visor. And push it onto your visor where you want it to sit, therefore marking 2 exact spots where to drill in your visor?

I went into MR Motorcycles, and they let me trace a new visor with the pins in. I then used that as a template. Still nerve racking !
Would recommend moving the holes up about 5 ml though, from the normal position. Good luck.

You dont need to copy one mate.
Just lay the insert onto the visor and put a dot where the pins need to go once you have lined it all up.

Ive done about 20 of them in the past month without one going wrong.
Just take your time with it and you'll be sweet.

I flatten the visor out and lay the insert out on it, then let it the visor take its normal shape. Make sure the insert in fully sealed around the whole outline and mark where you need to drill. The pins are slightly offset so there is a bit of room to adjust as needed.
Use a small drill bit first to make some guide holes then a 5mm drill bit for the pins.

P.s. Dont mount it too high as your visor seals about 10mm from the top. Look at it before removing the visor from the helmet.

Once you've set the pinlock and marked the holes I'd drill a little bit in toward the centre of these. You have to remember that the pin will have movement and if you drill to fit the pinlock then what happens is the thing isn't quite right.

That's based on my own experience of drilling my visor.

It is great to have finished the drilling and have it fit. The moments before you drill wondering if it's in the right place wasn't so enjoyable.

If you can measure off another helmet that would be the best option.

As for moving it up, sounds good, you just need to make sure the added thickness clears the seals above.
