I'm in need of a new clutch basket, 01 CR250. I've checked around a few places, OEM, Performance Wholesale, Econohonda, all big $$$. Motoxparts are selling Mitaka baskets (http://www.motoxparts.co.nz/motoxspares.php?alt_prod_img=1&category=93&brand=104&page=1&piece=1182) for around the $300 mark, still not what I'd call cheap but less painfull than OEM.
Anyone heard of Mitaka? They any good? Or can you suggest another place to try?

For what it's worth you might be able to find a racer who has a standard one they want to part with seeing as many guys upgrade to Hinson and other brand baskets. FYI the same basket fits CR250 92 onwards and CRF450R 02-07 so that may help with your hunt.

if you tell me more i might know of something for you.
if you need the backing plate or gear then your only option is genuine, if you just need the basket, then i know a guy that had a hinson lying around, and probably still has it

Gday Sam, just looking for the basket as the sides are notched/worn. The plates were all replaced just a short while ago, and the basket was looking very worse for wear. Can feel the notches through the lever . . . not good.

You can file the grooves out the once, but after that they need to be replaced.

Oh and yes I still have the CR, but between China and being sick I've not ridden a lot this year.

Hey WRT, Depending on how bad they are notched? Even if you can feel it through the lever, if the clutch plates are not catching and the clutch slipping sounds like they can be filed back. Its pretty standard practice to file them down. Just make sure they are all same/similar width after filing, so one fin of the basket isn't taking all the force.
Maybe post a pic up?

Been there, done that, unfortunately. Definitely time for a replacement, but for some reason I don't feel inclinded to spend $929.70 on an OEM one!

When the freckin hell are they goin to realize we simply won't pay those margins? And we aren't, we are all shopping overseas simple as that!! I don't wanna piss off Robert as he genuinely does back up his prices with huge support, skill and knowledge you simply cannot buy. But that's no the case here and its just bad business, they think we are stupid or something? The overseas suppliers have rent, wholesale margin, freight etc etc in there? You can't bloody tell me all that margin is for our low volume, specially when you can get it from overseas (as they could) much quicker! $1000 bucks for a freckin clutch basket! That just makes me fume! Oh well its they're businesses goin down the toilet, surely its better to ring your overseas supplier add 30% + GST and sell it, than have your customers go elsewhere and set up other buying relationships!
Oh f**k it rant over!! LOL!!!:zzzz:
