Hey guys,

I have my motorbike, car, house, bike lock, couple of miscellaneous keys, and a USB stick all on the same keyring. Obviously when riding, all the other keys are flapping around and the USB hangs down a fair bit and gets amongst things it probably shouldn't.

Am just wondering how you guys keep your other keys in check while riding what's available for purchase. Are there any little leather sack type things that might attach to the main keyring to hold all the other keys? That would be ideal.

Cheers.

bike key is on a key ring of its own, to many keys scratch up your triple clamps

All other keys are together on a ring that is either in jacket pocket or bag i am wearing.

Bike key on a carabina. Just clip it to your normal set of keys after your ride.

Or like my Katana, you can pull the key out when the ignition is turned to on, so everything just goes back into my pocket.

Ditto. Bike key has a blood donor tag - soft rubbery plastic, that doubles as a spooge meter: takes about a week of communtering for it to turn black:shit:

Put a soft rubber tag on it if you need it to be easier to locate.

Yeah I have one of those leather things that you put all your keys on and it wraps around all the ones not in use :-) tis great - no scratching, and keeps the usb and alarm remote dry...

All my bike keys are on their own bike friendly tag......and you should also keep the minimun keys required on your car key ring too as the weight of the other keys will stuff your barrels

Ahh a carabina! Why did I not think of this sooner. I even use one for my garage door key so don't have to turn the car off

Cheers guys.

Had a bit of plastic (the stuff you cover the kids schools books with) and used that on top triple clamp. Never got scratched :P

Too much weight on your ignition from a large bunch of keys will actually damage your lock - making it easier to pick and harder to use original key.

I could show you an old ignition barrel from my classic car - like throwing a sausage down a hallway and just about anything turns the lock.

my bike and steering lock keys are on there own, on a mcdonalds toy keyring. [got that one cos it a: matched the paint, and b: was large enough that i could feel it with my leg while riding.] my other keys are kept apart and go in the side pocket of the tankbag.

which ever side isnt full of other stuff! LOL. often that means they keys wont fit and end up in my jacket pocket which is a pain cos the pockets on my jacket are a bitch to open, never mind get a hand into.

My bike key is on its own keyring with Micro Max the fluffy yellow gorilla attached (makes it easy to find the key and pick it up with gloves on). Micro Max waggles his arms at me as I ride along - the faster his arms waggle the more he's enjoying the ride! :2thumbsup

This is a good idea - but if you are doing a track day do the check list:

KEY! :weep:

You don't want to get from Auckland to Taupo and realise your key is still hanging on the key hangy thing in Auckland

Bike key all by itself in the ignition. All other keys in my jacket pocket. Phone in a plastic zip lock bag in pocket, and garage remote too. Electronics and water do not mix well.
