I know of someone who is very close to sitting their 6F but failed their 1L by getting one more than the allowable wrong on the scratchy.
When I did my bike L the lady collecting the cards said it's not unusual for people to do well on the specialist questions but fail in the standard section. The reasoning is that we tend to focus on learning the new stuff, but not revise the things we're meant to know already.
Btw, it wasn't me - I didn't get any wrong when I did my 6L scratchy.
When I sat my car licence it was back in the day before the graduated system (while I was still at school). Shit that's a long time ago now.

i really dont get how you can get the scratchy wrong,
(image on the side is a 70km sign)
Q - What speed are you to travel at past this sign.
1 - 100+
2 - 70
3 - 30
4 - you are not supposed to travel past this sign.
its not that hard of a test especially if you get more than 3 wrong.
you sit that dang test to get ya motorbike license.
besides maybe if you fail the test you shouldn't be driving.

I got 2 wrong on the scratchy test, one of them was about the wof minimum tire tread depth, the other was simply misreading the questions about the "which car has the right of way blue/red" the next question was exactly the same but the car's were switched and it said "which car has to give way"
Wankers...
I still passed tho, jeez thankfully i only had to do it twice! (1L + 6L)

Come to Christchurch in winter and see how much fun you have riding around in freezing temperatures, then factor in the wind chill at 150kmh and you'll know what I mean.

I've never met a biker who has tried to talk someone out of riding before....:buggerd: have you ever thought that maybe riding a motorcycle isnt for you?

If it's a nice day I'll take the bike every time over the car, if conditions are icy, wet or really cold I take the car. Look on trademe and you'll see that the mileages on bikes are usually significantly lower than on cars built in the same year. Think about it.

Granted, in your part of NZ it gets much much colder than up here in dorkland, and we also don't have the snow to contend with. However, I have only ever driven a car a few times in my life and thats when I was learning to drive.....I never took to it, hated it. I ride everday. Its my only form of transport that I have and, I would recommend to everyone that rides to sell the car. The advantages of riding.... (for me) far outweigh owning a car
