Yes - you need to give it to me so I can ride it and keep the battery charged for you. madbikeboy will attest to my fitness as a substitute rider. :shifty:

if you don't ride it your a pussy.
man, I rode for 15 yrs without a license. Funny thing, it actually teaches you to ride much safer and within the law - last thing you need riding without a license is getting pulled over... so, you ride carefully.
Ride it!

Why cant you ride it?
Restricted?...I was in the same position once. Had a 250, really wanted this particular Yamaha 600 so went and got it, and rode it.

Very important, must be done before you get riding on it....
Get a nice aftermarket exhaust!!
My gsxr1000 was awesome, and then i put a yoshi 4into1 system on it and now im even more stoked with it everytime i hop on it.

if you're not going to ride it - disconnect the battery
if you are gonna ride it- I hope you don't get caught on your restricted, fined $400 and given 25 demits ( like I did!)

You could always take it out for a ride, as long as you take care. It's not likely that the cops will stop you if you behave.

excuse my ignorance but is it possible to just start it up every so often and let it run for a few mins each time, or do you have to actually ride it?
Tink

and then the man does the real open roads to give it some stretch.. I have this silly thing in my head that says ride it cause as said above.. ya keep to the law when you have nothing .. when you have something you stretch the limit.... but make sure its within your means... so I keep to the law.. boring ole lady!

You really have to ride it and get it above a few 1000k before it starts charging.

Not enough to charge the battery... I poked a battery like that when I mis-placed my license...

Remember your insurance too Reido!:sweatdrop They won't pay out if you crash on your 6R
I'm in a similar situation, although my Gixxer isnt quite finished. But i wont be riding mine before the 6F. And that is almost at the end of summer:pinch:

if you're not going to ride it - disconnect the battery
thats basically what i was asking, I need to be more specific on KB apparently. lol =]
So a little pootle up and down the road wont be enough for the battery, so i should disconnect it?
Dude. You live in Hazzard, one road in or out....they will be watching for you-take care!
Too much to risk to ride anywhere, so she'll be bored for 2 months =[

there you go =] :2thumbsup

Disconnect the battery, fill the gas tank, give the thing the clean of its life, apply a light lubricant to the fork tubes to prevent any rusting then freeze the key inside a big block of ice (that'll give you time to reconsider - before giving into the urge to ride it).
Make sure its insured even if you ain't riding it because there is still the risk of some bastard stealling it.
MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT IT IS RECORDED ON YOUR POLICY THAT YOU ARE UNLICENSED AND THAT THEY HAVE STILL AGREED TO COVER YOU FOR FIRE AND THEFT IN THE MEANTIME, WRITE DOWN THE NAME OF THE PERSON, THE DATE AND TIME THAT YOU SPOKE TO ABOUT IT BEING COVERED.
Be very very careful when you start riding it - I'm sure you don't need to be told the difference between your Ninja and a late model R6.
And remember 2 months isn't a long time for bikes, for many of us our bikes easily go 2 months without being ridden, particularly over winter. You won't have any problems.

What she said. Especially the insurance bit. I wouldn't give a rat's ass about the cops part, they give you a ticket, so what. What I'd be worried about, is while you were looking at your reflection in a building window, and you t-boned that Ferrari 599 that was in the right...
As for the storage thing - for two months, I'd buy an Oxford trickle charger ($130 on special at 'Treads), and I'd plug that in, then stick the bike in your lounge in place of the TV. Don't freeze the key, I think your new one has a transponder type jobbie (I've never owned an R6 since I'm straight), and it's likely not a good idea to put it in the freezer, although I agree with the sentiment...

Well, MsKaBC is certainly fit, as her recent downsizing of pants will attest. I'd loan her my (heavily insured) bike again*...
*Please note: This recommendation was made with fear of MsKaBC getting angry and doing her whole Hulk bike tipping rage thing on Scoot again.

Good advice that, I'd suspect that the key is passive (given that it doesn't have a battery so its probably just a coil of wire inside the key) but I wouldn't bet my own money (or key for that matter) so best not to freeze it.

There are several important things you need to do:
1) Admire it every day
2) Wash it every week
3) Polish all the shiny bits repeatedly
4) Sit and look at it while dreaming about all the mods you can do, and how great you will feel while riding it
5) When you think nobody's looking, sit on it and make "VROOM!" noises

Agreed. Pretty much everything I did while I had mine in the garage waiting to sit my full including making the "VROOM" noises.

Congrats on the nice bike!!
I would store it somewhere away from home if you want to avoid temptation...
Although that didn't quite work for me, I still had to visit it... and ended up doing several illegal rides....

Mmmm, mid sized bikes are nice - good balance of lightness & performance.
Congrats on the nice new machine!
2 months of not riding it though? I presume that is the minimum and you can't do anything to reduce that time (I don't think you could get an exemption for an R6). That has to suck big time! I guess you'll just have to go a little crazy for a couple of months.
