The Guy didnt explain much about it. Is it worth having?
Would i be able to sell it? Cause any money i can get to help pay this thing off would be great haha

Cheers Reido

yes be able to sell it, but r6 do not come with dampers standard, you might be able to get 300-400 for it maybe.

Your better keeping it on for bling factor, and stop those headshakes

Do you have a blue and black r6 which Im assuming you bought for a very good price?

Keep the GPR, they go for a hell of a lot more and need to be imported. Dampers are good and you have a freaking good one one.Plus it looks great.

They are nearly $1000NZD brand new, worth having if you intend to ride the bike hard. Set it on to a 'low' setting and then work your way up as you ride to see what feels best. Generally harder settings are good for high speed but make it a real bitch to maneuver once you've slowed down.

LoL... Mine doesn't have one and it's still a real bitch to manouver once I've slowed down, at least compared to some other bikes... I can think of better things to spend a grand on...

When the bikes having a full headshake, in the incoming lane, and you need to finish up the overtake because of the oncoming cars... you may want to re-assess priorities :D

Mind you, that particular scenario was on a sadistic thou

If you're googling... google tank slapper and headshake...

The steering damper is what keeps it under control (subject to settings, etc)

You're the only person I know that rides like that. You're not referring to the time that the ute 'hit you'... and yet you got the DD charge?:lol::lol:

What he said above as well. Keep the damper on. It wouldn't be there unless it was needed, if you're going to sell something, cut out a body organ instead.

Gremlin - what do you need a damper for when the front's 3 feet in the air anyhow? The only time Scoot gives a wiggle of annoyance is landing with the front slightly out of line, or when her tires are on the way out and there is a little squirming going on. But that's always done on a private road or racetrack.

Haha. It's more to do with front/rear weight balance, and generally only becomes a problem when the front wheel is a few cm off the ground, or comes down crossed up. My old 99 R6 needed it because I'd lowered the clamps on the forks by about 10mm to get better tip in, which then meant it was a bit nasty without the steering damper. But you already knew all that.;)

That was a CD charge thank you very much! :bleh: And no, this was a different time... on Old North Rd I think... got a dose of headshake going over a small crest on the power

Katie doesn't have a problem at all actually. Despite having great handling, I don't think I have had any proper headshake ever.

This was back on a 04 ZX10R... a twitchy hell-bent-on-death machine

As the kid says... its more when the front is skimming on the ground, landing slightly leant over or crossed up etc The damper stops headshake from going into a full blown tank slap, provided you set it up right.

Increasing the steering head angle doesn't necessarily equate to quicker turning, but boy does it add to the slappers and twitchiness... I haven't owned a bike in many, many years without a damper (excluding the CBX from this, it has the geometry of a cruiser and doesn't need one).

The 08 ZX is shite as well. If I want to show you my big balls, I'll drop my trou. There's no need to buy a $20k bike to show it...

Gawd what happened? Did you come off? Nothing like realising you need one when you dont have it?

Mate those dampers are gold. I wouldnt ride my RR without it (I like my suspension hard) and I couldnt come out of corners hard on bumpy roads without head shakes...

I had mine set of 3 all the time. but bike still rides fine on 1 or 8 (only really notice at very low speed)

Is it like the one you can just see in my profile pic?

Nah, I his some bumps and it it just slapped around for a bit. The rider behind me said that the bike whipped from side to side and smoke came out of the front tyre. :gob:
Felt scary...
