I guess after all the years I have spent in my line of work job I sould not be surprised at the call we went to last night..

But I have to ask what sort of cunt knocks a motorcyclist of his bike and leaves him lying in the middle of a busy road (two lane) in rush hour traffic !!

Cage driver looks in the mirror (witness statement) and just drives off

leaving this poor rider at the mercy of other road users..

hope kama will hunt this cunt down and strike him hard..

Big ups to the MSOP who stopped and provided scene safety till emergency services got there, and great to see a MOP hold his head in neutral alignment.

You can believe in the kindness of all people, and that most people are fundamentally good. And Santa Claus.

Or you can be realistic and realise that most people are assholes if given the opportunity. Your post isn't that surprising to me. My partner got hit on a ski-field in Canada, and the guy who knocked her down left her on the snow. She had a broken back and neck, 14 breaks in her leg and ankle, and she almost died.

I've been knocked off and the cager has failed to stop. Hell, I've had two drunk drivers hit me (when I was young) and both did runners.

But, I'm also surprised by the kindness that people can show. I've been flat out fucking astounded at the kindness that I've been shown by a heap of people (many of them on this site).

Hopefully said witness got his rego. And the cops actually follow through

Leaving the scene of an injury accident, failure to render aid and assistance, big offences.

How is the rider doing? Hope the injuries weren't too bad.

I DO believe people are basically good, not bad. But then I live in the rural South Island!!!:2thumbsup

Glad you got away, mate.
Better change the number plates and respray the car a different colour ASAP.

Stick it to the bastard. Fleeing the scene is all kinds of wrong.

I also choose to believe that most people are generally good. In this case there was one particularly nasty specimen who injured someone and left him on the road, and then several kind MOPs who stopped to help when they could have just as easily kept driving.

I hope the rider makes a full recovery and the authorities catch up with the driver ASAP.

I agree with Klingon - most people are good, but some are cunts. The OP describes a motorist that is definitely a complete and utter cunt! Not to mention a criminal.

Yes I agree people can be bastards.

I fell off in the middle of an intersection not so long ago (my first experience with diesel) and there was a car waiting to turn out of the road I was turning into.

I fell off pretty much right in front of the car and was pinned under the bike (the way I landed was unco as) and the car just drove off. Stink.

Agree what this guy did was wrong, however, in a panic situation it's the old fight or flight issue...not defending this guy and it's a bit like that Michael Douglas film where a mild mannered guy just lost in in traffic...normal and kind people do do these things for often inexplainable reasons.

Coming from the Tron up to the big smoke yesterday Sth Mway.
Seen a biker splitting lanes up and past me, the prick in a cage in front of me pulled over and tried to stop/ squeeze him from getting through.
Couldnt believe it. The Biker didnt seem to care, just turned and looked.
If it was me on the bike I would have had him , no question, I would follow the prick and wait till he stopped and let him have it.....
I did not see the cagers face, or seen his intention like the biker must have, so I gave the cager the benefit of the doubt thinking he may just have swerved as the biker passed him by?? who knows.
But got me swearing.

Then they're not "kind" people then are they?

Situations like that cut through all the bullshit and show up a person for who they REALLY are.

I don't agree....1 error of judgement does not show up who a person really is...

Maybe so, but if I was to knock someone off their bike like that, I don't think I would even be capable of just driving off. I'd be eaten alive inside.

I consider myself, to some degree at least, to be a "good" person, and in my opinion anyone who claims to be the same would not drive off in that situation. A situation like that is a test of character. To drive off and avoid something you have done would be to fail that test miserably.

I've seen many, many people who claim to be all sweetness and goodness and light... until something doesn't go their way, or someone rubs them up the wrong way (usually me). Then watch the shit hit the fan, and see who they really are.

That's pretty sick but a sign of the times unfortunately :(

Yep, I've had motorists trying to close the gap on me when splitting and doing it on purpose. There's some perverse people out there folks :(

Sorry but it is exactly this sort of situation that defines a person as Good or Bad!They run= arseholes they stop and do their best to help,=normal, law abiding, caring people.
to give the benefit of the doubt to someone who drives off knowing they've hurt someone is putting your head in the sand.
The book, the whole book and nothing but the book, is what they should get.

Nah, only a select few.

As for driving off, I can understand that good people make mistakes but it surely should be only a matter of a brief mental tussle to realise that manning up to what you've done is best there and then. Except if you happen to be surrounded by a disorderly mob of lbr's (sorry, just had to use them as an ideal example of where I probably would run; but at least to the nearest cop shop).

I think I said I am not defending his actions...simply explaining why people do it..panic takes over....

I mean surgeon who spends 10 years of his life in Africa devoted to helping others....makes one mistake and this one mistake means he is suddenly not a caring person...

To drive off like that...I hope it's killing him inside. There's no way he can make amends with himself unless he turns himself in. That's a test of character...drive off or help the motorcyclist. Shows that some people out there are truly heartless I guess. What a cunt.

I know it may seem a little far fetched but, we do need to consider the possibility that the driver didn't even know what had happened. They may have not seen the motorcyclist at all, heard a thump.... looked in the rear view mirror and saw nothing and carried on oblivious. May seem hard to believe but not impossible.
