A heads up posted by Blackbird reminded me that I had noticed this too - patching season is here again.

Several of the roads I have travelled in the past week have had patches of new seal on them - all covered with loose blue chip that has yet to be swept off (and probably never will be). These are as often as not on corners and are as slippery as hell if you hit them wrong. So heads up all. Can't be having with gravel rash now can we...

This reminds me. Why the f*** are these roading people allowed to just walk away and leave loose gravel all over the road. Does anyone know? It's dangerous enough that a car may slide out, 100 times more hazardous for bikes!

its lazyness and cost cutting, they would rather cars/trucks etc to press the gravel into the seal over time, as opposed to using a roller themselves and a broom....its stupid and dangerous...but thats roading contractors for ya

Tell me where! Unlike the rest of you limp wrists,I enjoy a bit of a cross up on roadworks....and it doesn't catch me out by surprise either....

It is always patching season in Hazzard County  But we can even go one better! Up here we have vertical seam repairs and not just with the liquid black tar snake either, up here we can have the hot mix rope effect as well. By rope think the kind of stuff that is used to secure ocean liners to the wharf in port! Bit of a menace when you strike it bang on the line you were preparing to take through a corner, even more fun if the contractors place it mid line around a blind 45kph bend in the road

Soon that will all change though, we are now part of the SUPER CITY! Can't wait to get some super city resources spent up here :D

Dreams are free.
