Should anyone be able to come onto this site and share their experiences good or bad with others and not be villified and put down?
Should we all be able to give pointers to others and hope that as a result they might get enough from it in order to preserve their skin during future rides?
Are we all intelligent enough to know what is safe for us as an individual and what is not and ride accordingly?
Why do some find it necessary to pull others down and get the boot in when they get online to share something? Is it because they want to look better themselves by putting someone else down?
My understanding is that this site is an open forum open to all members to post and share what they think is pertinent at the time and to try and help others get more enjoyment out of what we all get a lot of fun from.
Maybe I should have been born in another generation but I am passionate about motorcycling and enjoy it immensely. I like to share my experiences in word or video but I don't expect to get treated like shit from some individuals who think it's their moral duty to put others down and make out like they are the Guru of all things good and proper.
I think most of us are mature enough to pick the meat from the bones from what gets posted on this site.... but at times I wonder. There is a lot of pooled wisdom amongst the members and a lot of knowledge and if this is harnessed and shared, then a lot of people can learn from experience and not make the same mistakes that a lot of us have in the past.
I do not profess to be an expert, but I've passed half a century, been riding on and off since 17 years old and done countless hundreds of thousands of K's on bikes. I admit to riding reasonably hard but that's the level I ride at because I function best at that level and enjoy it the most.
I do get pissed off when I post and all the negative tut tut shit starts coming out. I am sure there are people that want to learn a lot of stuff but I know many people that will no longer post because of all the crap that goes down and the mindless shit they have to read through to glean the facts. Many of these people have years of experience and much to pass on.....
Rant over.

Can be a bit disheartening when you post something in good faith and then get rubbished. I find it's the same people who continually post the negative and unhelpful comments. I think a lot of us just skip over their posts as soon as we see their avatar e.g. _ _ _ mans.

Because the internet gives this beautiful anonymity that allows people to comment on others without regard to ethnicity, age, sex, etc. With that comes people giving their honest opinions to others without any fear.
It takes a truly open minded person to survive the wild world that is the internet. You'll need to learn who to listen to and when to reference advice. You'll also need an ability to ignore the trolls that feed on fools who are beckoned to feed them.
Welcome to the internet, the world has never been the same since ARPA.

They went looking for the missing rider, Found him a couple km from the house, He had come off his bike, he had slid down the road with his head against the gutter and worn most of it off, Dad says there was brain matter and gore smattererd all the way along the gutter, and his old mate with no head.

Everything is wide open to debate, we are not one eyed you know.Yup. Overall though, everyone has feelings and families. We're all the same in that respect.
Everyone believes something different, and some topics really bring out those differences.. Like this topic for example - Insurance is a waste of time - you don't need it. Cunts like me who aren't insured will just rip you off. See thats a good example of a couple of sentences that will cause a massive fallout. :girlfight:
Lets remember also, we are perfectly sane human beings in real life. Uh well, most of us anyway.

He's asking if you cut yourself.
Has he turned Jewish?
A Jewish boy goes and gets his foreskin snipped.
After the snip he asks the guy who cut it off what he does with the little bits of skin.
The man replies that he sews them together and makes luggage travel bags.
The boy is impressed and asks to see one of these foreskin luggage bags.
The man pulls a small beautifully made bag out of his pocket, however it is only the size of a coin purse (ask Carver he'll have one).
Confused the boy questions why the bag is so small as you could not fit anything in it.
The man laughs and spits onto the small bag and starts rubbing it vigorously and states 'in a couple of minutes it will be the size of a large suitcase.'

We're all born and we all die, that's the only thing that is the same for everyone, but it is also the circle, and the glory of life.
Without bad to give meaning to good, there'd be no joy in it, no appreciation of warmth without experience of cold for contrast.
The internet would be a vast empty space devoid of life if everything in it was goodness and light, it moves and it grows as does life, by the interaction, the controversy that causes healthy debate, and
gives everyone out there, a chance to say what they think.
People with experiences to share, good and bad, will share, and because they do, the internet enriches all of us, and it grows!
I say, good on you Beyond, you love biking and you feel strongly enough to want to share, and extend that enjoyment, and because you feel this honestly, you will pass on the joy, you will benefit
some, and piss some off, and (apparently) drive some to distraction,
but it's all good!
It's life, it is how we move the great wheel on, (or in our case, two wheels.. :D )

Just wondering, can I assume that the same applies for the abuse that I've copped in the threads that I have started?
Considering the length of time "some" members have been a member on this site, and know only too well the response of some "other" members will give ... And continue to post threads on their chosen subject.... Who is the fool ???

I refer to any member that has been on site for some years ... this may include both of you. Names of a specific member changes little...
That would be the first time I have seen you state "Dont know" ...funny that...

I wish my lawn was EMO. Then it would cut itself !
No it wouldn't. They always cut across the street so it would cut your neighbour's lawn.

Why give a shit about someone who posts on the internet - block the negative cunts and then you dont have to look at it.

Yup.
KB has really taught me to not take shit to heart. So light a fire under some thread and sit back and enjoy the beautiful flames! MMMMmmmm.

Stop pissing on my posts like a dog to a lampost.
Others may enjoy a dryhumping on their legs but I'm picky.

Don't take it to heart..it is only the internet, after all, not real life.
Keep posting your stuff, Beyond, I for one, enjoy it and find it thought provoking.
There are some real tosspots on here though...
All good so far but the repeat offenders could wind their necks in once in a while and give everyone else a break
I stopped using KB for about a year as got so fed up with the rubbish

It amazes me that there are still people who expect royal treatment from an anonymous user base, as if their own idea of respect and politeness applies to seething pits of unrestricted opinion, boredom and misinformation.
The internet has been around long enough for people to know to take what they want from it and leave the rest.

Are we all intelligent enough to know what is safe for us as an individual and what is not and ride accordingly?
Probably... if we take an optimistic average, that is.
However, it's no fun taking a risk if you are not fully aware of what it entails. Life is, to a considerable extent, just applied risk management. Safety, on the other hand, is just an illusion created by those who have stopped evolving out of fear of the unknown.
