Is there 125 and 150 CBR's? and what is the RWHP? more than the FXR150? Is the CBR water cooled, six speed? and how much$$$$$.
It might be time to let 125 2-strokes be water cooled with no carb restriction.

As the Honda CBR-125R get more popular, the Honda CBR125 is Britain's top-selling motorcycle for several years. The Honda CBR-125R is a fantastic road legal learner bike perfect for first time rider.
The Honda CBR-125R with its Liquid-cooled, two-valve, single-cylinder, four-stroke, 124.7cc engine produces enough power to get first time riders experience the feeling of riding a sporty bike. But after about one year, most Honda CBR-125 owners want to sell the bike as the 13 horsepower engine doesn't provide enough power.
But why sell the bike, if you can for as little as 10,000 Baht (217 Euro, or 294 US$) can upgrade the big to a CBR-150R, with original Honda parts. The differences between the Honda CBR-125 and his bigger Thai brother the Honda CBR-150 is only the cylinder, piston and cylinder head assembly.
Buying the original Honda CBR-150 part is for people who plan to visit Thailand for a holiday no problem at all, it is not uncommon that foreigners buy this '150cc upgrade kit' says a shop owner who also shows us quickly several more Honda CBR upgrade variants starting from 130cc to all the way up to 195cc. This third party bore-up sets are even cheaper then the original Honda 150cc set.
The shop owner explains us that with the 195cc bore-up kit, which includes a sport camshaft, piston, cylinder, cylinder head assembly which includes larger DOHS 4-valves and an un-limited ECU/CDI with a simple manual, the modified Honda CBR can produce twice the amount of horsepower compared to the stock Honda CBR-125.
Just when we want to leave the owner of the shop, points out that with more power 'over 26 horses' we also need to consider other modifications. And he shows us racing front forks and Brembo brake assemblies with disc brakes that are much larger then standard on the Honda CBR-125. Other stuff we get to see are rear swingarms, racing, air-filters, exhaust pipes, gas rear shocks, and the guy is not stopping ... we need an excuse to get away...

im after a crb125r which is fuel injected water coooled 125cc, not as powerful as a fxr150 stock but you can put a power-comander on them for the EFI which brings them up to a fxr's power, from what ive seen since its EFI the throttle reponse is better an a fxr so coming out of corner is better, but the SOHC limits its top end.
im just learning how to race so i need a reliable bike to do it on, and this should do it.

If you have just sold a good FXR because it had a small fault that you could/would not fix.
I do have to ask, if you couldn't solve that problem why do you think you are going to be able to build a competitive bike from an orphan that's down on power compared to a FXR, is your new project so easy it's not going to have issues, have you thought this through?. :(

I'll offer $850 for your cbr when you get bored of it (and the bidding starts)!!
Question? If you got no money, how you gonna build new super bucket??
Question? What do you have to do to make an fxr not go? there's nothing to them?
Question? If someone turns up on the new yamaha 150, will you sell the cbr as well and replace it with the "125" version? (And sell me your cbr which may or may not go??)
And last but i'm sure not least.
Wouldn't it have been a good idea to research what bike to buy instead of asking question's about a possibly (probably) better option after the purchase??
Just a couple of thoughts!

We don't have wet meetings when we book the track we book sunshine too
Those tyres are ok you can still corner with the pegs on the ground.
I just have to get back into the grove after the February accident.
I think I have coaxed some more power out of the Senke. but I will be loaning that out to be raced by a friend. I intend on riding "the evil one" I can't let that bike beat me. It has a mean power band and likes going mono, but that could just be my weight over the back wheel.

Thanks, i like to think of it as my mini gsxr600, its abit down on horse power compared to my old fxr, but it makes up for it with crisp throttle response and handling.
it may seem alittle flash to you wellingtonians but up here at mt wellington and roys hill alot of bike are pretty flash, remember its still dirt cheap to set one of these cbr's up, and they are truly beautiful machines.

2 strokes generally speaking have more torque than 4 strokes cc for cc. That's why they have been the choice for real racing bikes & Trials bikes until regulated against recently.

It's good seeing new bikes available for the class, but by definition they aren't buckets unless they burn oil (4 stroke or two) and are made of atleast three different donors

thats the oposite of what i think after riding both......my old fxr150 felt gutless and un-responsive compared to my cbr, the fxr handles not nearly as well. There was a cbr150 at royshill, i didnt have much trouble passing him and hes not a bad rider.

Even just no carb restriction would be good
What water cooled 2 stroke engines are available that arnt competion based?
Slap an RGV250 cylinder on a Suzuki or Kawasaki rotary valve bottom end and Bobs your uncle. Plenty of good chamber designs to go with these cylinders. I have heard Team ESE have figured out how to air cool them with out to much effort, might see one on the track next year.

Yeah it's the 'slapping' that may be a drama. A cursory look at a modern cylinder sees that they are attached by 4 widely spaces bosses at the bottom of the cylinder. Small commuter 2 strokes have either internal full length bolts, or aren't spaced anywhere near as wide. Considerable crankcase modification required.

is using parts from a competition bike even allowed?

No it isn't. But RGV was a roadbike not a competition bike.

Legal. Heavy but legal.
I know of someone who had the parts to build a Kawi & was thinking about it (those Ninja engines have been around for years). A few people were talking about 250 4s with 2 cylinders taken off. I've seen one 1/2 done.

I see it as, if its ever been sold as a road bike, its bucket legal. Even if its a race rep.

Where on EARTH did the "road registered" bit EVER mean it can be a Bucket?
If it's a competition bike and road registered it CANNOT be used as a bucket. The rules clearly state no COMPETITION based engines. 'Road registered' has no place in Buckets.

So would you will the RGV250 out then? If you blanked one cylinder off and ran it as a 125 2 stroke (What you can't actually do anyway, but thats not my point)
The rules are a bit simple arnt they.
