Hello

Today I decided to take note of all the settings on my bike.. well getting started.. measured front preload, yep no problems.

After that I wound my rebound damper 15 clicks to hard, expecting on the 16th click to be at the top. But wtf ? two more clicks later.. where is the stop ? wtf..

I thought there is ment to be a stop. I was not screwing it too hard just incase.. but..

Is this normal ? If so.. with no stop, how does one accurately set the rebound on the forks in this case ?

Cheers in advance.

How many clicks are there supposed to be? Have the caps been off?
I would be inclined to wind them all the way in till they bottom, then count the clicks out

It depends somewhat on how the caps have been fitted as to how many available clicks there are. Its amazing how many people including shops get this badly wrong. BUT, the click setting is always expressed as the number of clicks anticlockwise OUT from full hard. Full hard is fully inwards clockwise, that means that the clicker / needle has completely closed off the internal bypass bleed passage and that is an absolute and accurate point to start from. Expressing it from fully outwards and then back inwards is very inaccurate except if you have a shouldered and high tolerance cap such as an Ohlins cartridge cap, but even then we always express it as number of clicks outwards from fully hard.

That makes complete sence :)

I got to about 18th click hard though, I am sure I could get another 3 clicks out of it. I did not want to wind it too hard incase I damaged anything :)

I took her for a ride this afternoon and it felt the same so far so no problems, although I was not nailing it around corners due to traffic and the roads I picked.

Thats what I have done but they do not seam to bottom out, I expected them to stop solid but they don't and I am too chicken to wind them further :P

The book says factory set is 15 clicks from close or Hard. I counted about 18 clicks before I thought... oh deer.. this is far to much.

I will ask the dealer about it whom I got the bike from, I wonder if it is a case of crap assembly hehe.

Sounds to me like the caps are set a bit too far up the cartridge damper rod.
Definitely not assembled correctly.
Let us know how you get on

They wont have been assembled from the factory like that and should have a lot more available clicks. When they are fully clockwise inwards the bottoming feel wont feel completely hard so you need to be extremely careful. Sometimes the final click wont be a click, it might effectively only go inwards a further say 1/4 to 3/4 click from the last click that you counted. That is because the detent spring and ball mechanism relies on a certain amount of angular rotation for every click.
