How good was the racing today??
Was a bit worrying with the weather yesterday but turned out awesome, both outside and on track today!
A little confusing to start with, the new 2 heat, repocharge formatt but when everyone gets used to it, should be awesome!! More racing = more fun.
Was bound to happen with such a good turn out!

Was indeed a good day. I sat out the last F4 race and waved a flag. Interesting how tight Gaz's lines were into the infield with Tim up his ass. No way there was going to be an FXR sneak up the inside. His CB125T(140) was sounding pretty staunch as well. Pretty sure Tim would have been away if he'd managed a pass but he couldn't pull it off.
Henk may be complaining about the need for more power but I was watching him all day and he had pulled right up on the one rider that was always just in front of him.
Ditto the comment about needing another pair of legs.

i have to agree with henk though.......when i had that bananna i just couldnt keep up with people.....but when i got on the fxr my speed was ALOT better and i couldnt of done it if i didnt have the muscle of the fxr150
henk is getting out braked out cornered and out-powered because his ibke isnt up to it. If you dont have the right machine its very hard to win,

Had some good battles all day with Daniel Lancaster, I just feel like I need more power, or maybe just some better handeling, better starts wouldnt hurt either.
Wouldnt hurt a few of the fast bastards at the front to slow down and wait for the rest of us:laugh:

Still had a huge amount of fun. Realistically the problem probably isn't the bike, it's the rider. In any case I'd rather have an intense scrap for last place than a midfield ride around on my own.

Is it just me or does it seem odd that you get more points for finishing third than 1st, referring to points leader in b grade getting 25 for third and race winner getting 20 for 1st in round 2's 1st race, doesn't change anybody's placing and maybe there's an explaination. Just curious.
So you might be on an fxr for the next round after all aye henk?? :sweatdrop

Only if I can find one I can afford. I know the bike I have can go faster, just need the time to play with it. Might be wiser to stick with it in some ways, if I get an FXR all excuses evaporate on the spot. Rough plan is to get another bike and then fight the wife over who is going to ride what.
Saw some of the photos on Damien Toman's flickr page, not sure how much more lean angle there is left in the bicycle sized tyre on the front.

if you get a fxr150 be damm careful......make sure its been loooked after, also be careful when stripping it down, if you want to set up a fxr150 you should cost in pipe...ect
atleast your bike goes and is running alright

plus with the fuel injection they dont need so many mods to make them compeditive....

I think concentrating on skills more than bike would prob pay off ten fold than trying to get the fastest bike, yes reliabilty is key to that, but some of the most reliable bikes out there are the least reliable looking. I know I have a llooooooooonnnng way to go before i start blaming the bike. You have the advantage of age Max.:argh::innocent:

Bollocks, to win that award I'd have to keep tipping it in until I crashed to find out where the limits are, and I'm too old for that sort of carry on.
Kieran on the other hand gets my vote for the award by stacking it into the corner until the pipe lifted the rear wheel off the deck. At least thats the way it looks in the photos.
If he ever gets that bike running properly he's going to be frightningly fast.

Yes, Max, I agree it is a bit expensive. It is a 2003 model and has low mileage which helps. There just are not many FXR's available right now. My bro' got that rather nice little CB125 for about $700 :niceone:(the no. 41 that I had a ride on - as in the profile photo). I don't see many good deals like that around. I would also have to fly to ChCh and ride the FXR back which adds to the cost. Any advice will be much appreciated including contacts for bikes for sale:yes:. I don't want to buy a problem bike though - you know how annoying it is when the thing won't start!

I agree $2800 is too much but that was just the asking price. He has already offered it for $2500. You did well with the 2 wrecks but there aren't that many around at the momment. Which bike number were you on Sunday? I have just test ridden one at an asking price of $2100. It has quite a bit of surface rust and corrision on the engine casings. Goes well. Hi Max. Yes, it is the lastest FXR . Never been dropped (soon fix that! - I went down in the wet last Saturday on my first time back to the track in decades ). My bro' in Kaipoi (near ChCh) is collecting the bike for me. I will fly down on Thursday night and ride it back over the weekend (I have a long weekend booked including Friday and Monday off). Funny, I've always ridden faster bikes but I'm quite excited about this new little racer. The long ride home will be a mini adventure and a photo opportunity. :ride:

I'll also want a few photos of me on the new bike so I hope to find someone to work the camera If I set it all up for them. My brother will likely be there on the practice day so I just need someone for race day. That reminds me - I must get a racing license (I'm already a club member).

Sounds like a good plan, hope the weather is kind to you. A few of us are racing at Roys' Hill in Hastings on the Sunday, if you are 'in the area' you should come for a looksie. It's a very cool little track, you'll be wanting to go back when she's all in race trim too...

I've just looked at the map. I didn't realise that it is virtually on my way home! Guess what I've been thinking....... With some wire and duct tape and a day MNZ license at the track, I could even have a go!???? I could drill the drain plug at my brother's place before leaving Kaipoi. How cool would that be? Racing on my way home? My first road race in 2.5+ decades? Thanks for the suggestion "Unstable".

That's the spirit! There will be plenty of tools and what have you around. They do like the bikes to be 'nyloned' though, so might pay to check with the organizer to avoid disappointment.

When I did the Yamaha 350 YPVS 2-stroke proddy racing, years ago, I often used to ride to Brands Hatch, take off the license plates, put on the numbers and race:2thumbsup! Saved renting a van. I did crash one of those times but was still able to ride the bike home. Hey, I'm an optimist! :sunny:

If any one needs somewhere to stay the night or access to a workshop for the Roys Hill meeting just give me a shout.
I usually have spare nylon for bikes. I am "the Nylon Nazi" that checks every ones nylon before they can race
I have spare room in Napier for accommodation and a secure place to lock up the bikes.

Hi nigela, I've been away since last Wednesday (Rotorua, then Christchurch and ride back on new FXR150) so unfortunately did not read your excellent offer before leaving . I would definitely have stopped over :mobile:. I stayed in a motel in Hastings. As I stopped at the BP in Hastings for breakfast this morning I met a couple who were returning from Roy's Hill and told me it was cancelled :weep:. I went along anyway and it was all locked up (hoped for a ride around the track in the rain or even to have a close look at the track). Another guy from Auckland with his son just arrived while I was there and he was also disappointed to have to turn around and go back to Auckland. I was riding through heavy sleet between Napier and Taupo. Bloody cold! :cold::cold: I could feel the warm air hit me as I approached Matamata - was a relief. The FXR looks like new and goes really well. Anyway, that all gives me time to get the bike ready for the next Mt Wellington session. I might need some advice about fitting the plastics. Sounds like you are "da man" when it comes to these matters.

It's fairly simple anything steel that could hit the ground should be nyloned.
Just lay you bike down and see what touches first.
The obvious bits are footpegs and axle bolts and handle bar tips.
Next meeting write down my mobile number (it is on the road racing page of www.pacclub.co.nz ) and we will make sure you aren't left on your own, or at least have good accommodation.

What we have done is got around 50mm od about 40mm long, drilled it about 4/5 of the way through 16mm, and all the way through 10mm.
It was then put in with the front axle, rear axle and top shock mounts(I have twin shock rear) you may need to do something different with that.
My race no is 80 blue honda if you wana look at your pictures for inspiration. You prob wont have any from last meet, also my dads bike no.57 yellow honda done very similar.
Good luck and have fun all I had was a 3" cutoff wheel to cut the length

Bollocks, to win that award I'd have to keep tipping it in until I crashed to find out where the limits are, and I'm too old for that sort of carry on.
Kieran on the other hand gets my vote for the award by stacking it into the corner until the pipe lifted the rear wheel off the deck. At least thats the way it looks in the photos.
If he ever gets that bike running properly he's going to be frightningly fast.
I agree. Close up shot just b4 Kieran crashed:

Tell me how your B grade works? Does the B grade race a seperate race? Do they get seperate points? What if a B grader is too fast? How/when do they get promoted to A grade? Do they lose their points if they move up?
Have suggested that B grade might be an idea down here, but most seem to think its too complicated. Can't be that difficult if you guys are doing it, right?

There is a small amount of machining to the disc mounting face required, around 12mm. Your disc will bolt straight on, and you can put your FXR cush drive in too. I believe you have to replace the bearings as the axle may be a different size though I am not 100% sure on that. In all one of the easier wheel swaps around.
