Me and the Mrs are in the throes of getting organized to come back to NZ after 23 years in the UK, and we're going through our accumulated stuff to decide what will fit into the container.
In doing so, I unearthed something I wrote about 25 years ago - and I'm curious to know if anyone can recognize the road.

if someone does, I'll buy them a beer once I get my bikes out there and get riding again. Bonus if they can identify the pub!:niceone:

well my guess would be the cromwell gorge, before lake Dunstan was filled.

Give that man half a beer!
Unfortunately, we're hoping to settle in the Waikato, so the beer may take a while!

I think you'll find there have been a few changes over the past 23 years :)

The country no longer shuts at 8:30pm on weekdays and the place is no full of damn foreigners.

Good luck.

Right, the clock is ticking!
So the questions are croping up -
I see from another post that daytime lights are now required - could someone point me in the right direction for the actual regs - I want to find out if it is a requirement for "front running light(s)" or for "headlight(s)"
Our container should arrive in the Hamilton area mid to late January - any good contacts for MAF / VIN / AA.

Looking forward to getting back to a country where a "meat" sausage has more meat than rusk in it!!

See ya soon:scooter:

Head lights on at all times. No need to fit anything.
Most bikes sold in NZ are marketed to meet Australian ADR and have the lights hardwired on anyway

Won't get down south until later in 2010 - might try to make the KETHS reunion Labour Weekend - or maybe the 4OSouth reunion in Feb.
Bike won't arrive until late Jan, so by the time I make it legal......
Dunedin is "home town" so I do want to get down there fairly soon.
Really need a job and a place to live before I go touring again.:scooter:

Sorry, Guys, I'm fully commited with the container - if you'd let me know a couple of weeks ago I might have been able to do something for you.

Last day at work, today - down to the pub for a couple of pints this evening, then clean and prep the bikes tomorrow. and, of course, it's forecast heavy rain in my area !!

I've dealt with maf/customs/stevedores once myself(it was a nightmare) and used jaccanna customs and freight once.
It was 3 years ago that I used them but they were top notch and very easy to deal with. (they're in Auckland and I used them from Dunedin)

We've now arrived - going to be based in Morrinsville for the next few weeks, our container is on the water (somewhere) due here late January, so won't have bike or gear until then:crybaby:
Now got to find a job and a place to live - anyone know of anywhere near Morrinsville - 2 bedrooms + garage and allows cats - to rent for a few months?
Hope to meet some KB'ers sometime soon.

If you attend the Paeroa Street Races in Feb' then you are bound to meet some KBers, the place is crawling with them. Mostly on the bank at the hairpin throughout the day. I for cant sit in one place for two long, so I get mobile.
