Nah havent done it before myself but have heard good reports from those that have. Wouldn't have a clue, I'd imagine it will loop back onto itself to end where it started.

It went around a wee loop in the puketiro forrest last year. was real enduroey and slick as fuck last year. had road sections to join the hard sections. The carpark is just on the other side of the bridge from SH2 then you ride up the stop bank and up the hill to the trails... put your fuel on the back of a truck.
Not a very long loop but they seem to go in and cut a new track for it each time or use different combinations of existing tracks... there's heaps of trails in there. Justin from KMMC has run heaps of enduros in there and he loves it tricky. I'll be there with the camera... say cheeeeese

The year before the loop was a fair bit longer, but last year they lost a lot of that due to wind blow... so I guess it depends what has been happening in the forest.
Kezza, don't know if I'll manage cheese... more likely a wheez as I crawl past :)

I'm one of the helper type dudes. We had the quads up there last Sunday and smoothed out the track. Nice and slippery with a couple of challenging bits. I'll be out there this Sunday to pick up the pieces and sweep at the end of the day. Last weekend one of the sweeps ran out of gas and needed rescuing - will try and avoid that this Sunday

Eeek! You guys are making me nervous about this ride! I'd better start eating lots of spinach now so that I can be as strong as Popeye, for all the times I crash off my bike and have to pick it up - hope you dont get a pic of that Kezza!

jeez just checked my photo album and i havn't done the totara park ride since '07, seems like not that long ago. was a fun ride but hate the clay in the wet so i'm checking the forecast. if you want to check out what it *might* be like (if they havn't altered the track too much) have a look at http://www.zaq123.net/gallery/album184

You will rock the track crfchick! Make sure you've got nice new tires on, are they pretty good? If you can ride slippery stuff you'll improve pretty fast! You go girl! I think the forecast is fine! It's been raining like hell up here, I've got new tires for the last of the 2 man. Wish you lived closer!

Thanks Midget! I hope you kick arse at the 2Man! I'm sure you will find it so much better with new tyres (which I dont have - not sure if I want to spend more dosh on it if I'm going to get a new bike...eventually!).
I wish I lived closer too, that'd be awesome! I think that rain you've got is heading down this way today and tomorrow..!

What size are your tires crfchick? And how worn are they? If your 18 inch rear I'm pretty sure I've got a decent one kicking around here somewhere that I could do ya on the cheap if ya wanted.... Haven't had an 18 for a while and don't see it happening anytime soon!

Thanks RITTR! I'm pretty sure my rear tyre is an 18, they're just the standard CRF230 wheels so I guess they must be! I'll check when I get home but how used is the tyre and what sort of dosh do you want for it?

Yeah I'd say it is then. Just went down and checked and she's a 120/100/18 so a reasonably wide one too for decent grip. As for how used, not new but not been used too much by the looks... It looks how I'd expect one of mine to look after 3-4 rides put it that way... Dunno what ones worth to be honest, been a while since a bought a second hand tire. Pay my entry on sunday and it's yours? If thats fair? I don't mind chucking it on for you if need be too :)
Oh and Secondfield, shutup ya slimy bastard!

Cool you're getting another tyre. Haven't you had new tyres on the bike at all? It will improve resale value anyway! Really need them good for riding on the wet grass and in the mud! What's your front one like? Ooh yuck, the underpants washing doesn't sound great! Definitely get the help putting the tyre on though, looks like a pain in the butt doing that!! You go girl! Can't wait to see pictures! Apparently you're not trying hard enough if you don't fall off! LMAO!

good stuff man. There's a really cool one of a quad spinning up and sideways on the second page. How can you be bothered pulling out the cam so much when riding? good work

Good snaps Pete. Surprised the lens didn't fog up when in the bush, given the amount of huffing and puffing that was going on to get up some of those slippery, root infested uphills!! Took me 2 hours to clean the bike - great!!

yeah there were a couple of fun uphills (fun to watch from the top anyway). i think i need to replace my tyres a little more often, my mate had sharp edges on his new tyres and he went up no problem.

I was a busy lad looking after the carpark, signing latecomers in and general marshall duties. Didn't get up the hill till 12:00 just in time for a sausage. Managed to squeeze off a few photos though.

Heres a couple more piks.
I was chatting to one of the army blokes and said I had told some of the riders, the army was going to use them for live target practice. But he said "Nah - we can't afford to spend the money on ammunition."

A mate and myself were giving some people a hand to push their bikes up the mud hill. It was the other guy's first time on a trail ride so I was keeping an eye on him. We did a fair few of those A extensions and I did the large B loop bit as well

Hi kezza. I jumped onto you website to have a nosey at ya photo's. I must say I like the photo of the out of control freak in the photo on your front page, that links to the Totara park ride. that twit is me!!!!
looking at all the other photo's of guy's coming down that same section, they are all straight, up right and in control .... But that's no fun in my book;)
After seeing those army boys with their Styers and giving them a roost (or at least trying to, its a bit hard when ya on a dirty old DRZ that's already full tapped out) and then a couple of minutes later having a flash of light in front of me, i thought your camera flash was a muzzle flash and the soldiers were getting pay back lol
Anyway after a change of dack's and a few more loops, It was a very enjoyable day, although a bit greasy in places....
Plus - those sausages were really really good!!!!!

Good photos guys, they capture the day. Looked thru hoping to see myself in some dirt action & there I was in the BBQ queue
This was my 1st trailride & lessons learnt are knobblies are esssential & draw the course map for reference. Cheers

Hey Thanks Kezza for putting up the high res photo. Printed it out and now in pride of place on the garage wall.......
Andy, I wouldn't be ashamed of being in that BBQ queue. Those sausages were one of my highlights of the day, Along with losing the front end when coming down one of the long down hills on the B loop. Bike hit neutral, front end slipped into a rut, Phil became "Flying Phil" and went over the bars only to "Rollie Pollie" down a 15m drop !!!!!
After a hard slog back up to the trail, my bike was lying in the middle of the track on its side idling happily away, while a small queue had gathered behind it.:Oops::Oops:
Its all part of the fun I suppose !!

if you did that ride without good tyres all the other rides will be a piece of cake.
the tangimoana ride coming up is a pretty easy open ride, although it rained last year and had a few bogs.
