I had a whole XL200 you could have had but i lefta t my folks house, they got pissed off with it and sold it at a garage sale for 20 bucks... cunts. I have an '85 XR 250R (single shocker though) under my house that's in a bad way. I'll see if my mate wants to get rid of it if you're keen?

It has the motor. the clutch is fucked though. the main bearing holding the shaft that the clutch is on is gone and the basket has been bouncing around in there. Basket fucked and obviousely the bearing needs replacing... I'm yet to split the cases because my mate was unsure what he wanted to do with it but have seen a fair few metal chunks and suspect there could be worse damage. It's the twin carb/twin header model.
I'll speak to him tonight and let ya know here

I might have a spare CDI and coil for a 2 valver loafing. Maybe other bits and pieces, I'll have a look. I have a 2 valver workshop manual.
What I'm looking for is a XL/XR 250 donk for my KX125 '97 roller which has had the cradle modified for one to just slot in. Everything but the motor, carb and custom header is there and the bike is just waiting for an implant. I kept the 4" supertrapp just for it too!

Why don't you drop a KDX motor in it Evan?

Why don't you drop a KDX motor in it Evan?
Good question, worth answering!
!. I am a closet four stroker.
2. The cradle has brackets welded into it ready for a Honda 250 motor
3. The electrics have been rewired complete with CDI and coil for the Honda 250 4T
4. Throttle cable is a Honda one
5. Air box has been sorted for the Honda carby
6. Oil cooler is custom fit on steering head below number board for 4T
And where would I find a rare KDX200 motor complete with electrics?

If you don't want to 'part it' how 'bout a straight swap so you can use the KX forks on your KDX!

Just went down and had a good look for part numbers/frame numbers on the XR... the frame says it's a 1985 XR 250R but i noticed at the bottom of the barrel it has 199cm3 (cubed) cast in the metal. WTF???? was there a twin carb 200 made? has someone put this barrel on it after manufacture?? questions questions

Theres a guy Martyn2500 on TM. I used to get a lot of my XR 2 valver parts from him. He often repeats the line that he doesn't do it for a business and it supplements his hobby (of restoring old Honda's) but he is not as cheap as he likes to say he is... to his credit he does have all the bits. Be careful because he will send you parts he hasn't checked out, assuring you it is a goody, and then you have to go through the process of getting him to find you another one when the bits inside that part is shrapnel. In the end you do get the part you want but sometimes it's a long-winded process. I had to deal with him because there was no one else as good local.

Ponder some more. To sweeten it up a bit I might even throw in a bit of cash. I'm planning on selling my KX shortly and saving up for a 4T enduro, following flyingCR's withdrawals I don't want to suffer the same fate, your lump could be a panacea through the drought.
