Hi y'all
I have a 1987 GB500TT which is all original, in great nick and a pleasure to ride. However recently I rode a different GB500TT that had been taken out to 600cc via a kit. The owner purchased it already done so couldn't answer my queries - it also had a scorpion muffler on it - went like stink and sounded amazing! Does anyone know how to get hold of this 'kit' and/or who could do this type of work to my bike? I am in Wellington. Cheers Matthew

spankme - the owner of kb - has one and has done the 600cc bore out project, as well as a few others around here.

Yeah totally into this bike right now. Think I just came across Spankme's cost breakdown from back in 2005 - over 5k! No doubt that was for more than just the bore but hope it won't be in that park.

Pepole have put the whole 600cc dirtbike engine in them. I would have thought upgrading the 400 to a 600 was the thing to do, you only want another 100cc, is it worth it? There are plenty of little tweaks you can do to the 500 and gain a bit more oomph.

Great bikes, I wanted a GB but ended up with the Yammie version- SRX

Hi Matthew, I did the whole 601cc thing back in 1998. If you want to email me at sshards@paradise.net.nz I'll give you a breakdown of exactly what I did (if I can remember!!).
