Careful with that, you'll strain something...
Sounds good for me, too. Wouldn't have minded delaying that start by an hour but I guess this means what, coroglen for lunch?

There will be a fuel stop at Kopu when we arrive, lunch at Coroglen, then maybe a fuel stop at Whitianga if anyone needs it, then Kopu and back.

coro, cos i dont want to get stuck behind trucks and SUVs and vans..
Firstly, since when does school holidays mean trucks/suvs/vans will be flooding the coro during the week when most parents are working?
Secondly, since when do bikes get stuck behind such vehicles??
I wouldn't think that there would be much traffic heading to the coromandel on a Friday morning, evening maybe yes. But even then, it's not a long weekend or anything.

Riding clockwise ya wouldn't be looking into the sun at all as the first half you'd be riding north then when heading east it's through hills anyway.
I'm not too keen on any earlier than 9am, and I'm keen for anticlockwise haha sorry Stephen :dodge: <- Dodge! Get it!

I shouldn't have cursed myself by saying "if nothing pops up I'll be sweet"... Looks like uni tomorrow morning for me :2thumbsup gotta love "study breaks" eh...
Have a good ride guys, be safe.
For the rest of the semester I technically have fridays off so if I am free + weather's good I'll always be eyeing up Fridays for decent rides!

oh yep, let's all do a coro loop on 6 hours of sleep or less completely out of our normal dicadian rhythm... real good idea
just accept that kopu hill has a "rush hour" for commuters and an anticlockwise loop makes it easier to see oncoming boat when it matters and plan accordingly.

jeez, openTTD is not a "sim" game... and just because I spend a few half days of the study break swapping between cod5 and openttd doesn't mean i'm not busy; It's called a break, (working people call it a "weekend") and it's more affordable than taking my bikes out for a blat in the wet/dark considering one doesn't have a wof and the other is hilarious enough just to commute on but lacks adequate headlights and rubber tyres for night rides...
Translation: I has no job so no monies :dodge:
her and 7% (?) of the rest of the population
studylink (now dole is over) has monies, but it's not a full time income (apparently from sitting on KB and MSN) with zero commute and all meals provided like some of us enjoy :Pokey:

wait, what does gaming have to do with students getting up well before 6am simply to avoid a mild amount of traffic? it's break from your cycle and it does affect you for more than the one day.
it's a dumb idea - I have had two bins to attest to that - and morning rides at this time of year tend to have wet roads until later in the day.
Thani-B
16th April 2010, 16:03
Well it was a good ride, and Danae, you shouldn't not come just because you think you are too slow for us.
I'm quite happy sitting at the back being TEC so I would have no problem sitting behind you.

It was all done well in the safe zone, I don't think anyone scared themselves or ran wide into oncoming lanes or overtook on blind corners...
Pretty much same as the last one you were on Rob ;)
PS. Remember 12,000 is only about 70kmh in 4th for me :(

Thats odd, because 12,000 is more than 70km/h in 2nd for me.
First goes up to 60, then second can reach 80/90, third hits 120, so either your bike has no power or your thinking the wrong gear

Dude where'd you get a quote for 4 weeks for powder coating a wheel? I was thinking about getting mine done but 4 weeks :O
jono035
17th April 2010, 15:47
Arkro Powder Coating (http://www.arkropowdercoating.co.nz/about), they're the guys who did Renegade Master's entire bike pretty much. They're the only place that I found that will handle it from start to finish for a reasonable price. $50 per rim and you just drop it off. The other quotes I got either required me to get it stripped/sandblasted somewhere else or were much more expensive ($80+).
Jonno.

Yeah, apparently they do a pretty good job too, real good attention to detail. It's just the having to find a replacement rim or not being able to ride for 4 weeks that's a bitch...

Brilliant. Had a great time outbraking bigger bikes and the VFR was carving everyone up. Managed to make easy work of a hayabusa, a ducati 1098, gsxr1000 and a pretty interesting selection of other big bikes.
Somewhere during my first decent fang something broke though and the bike was running on 3 cylinders for the rest of the day. Haven't figured out what caused it, but I'll be taking a look at it tomorrow, hopefully.
Lifting the rear wheel under braking going into the hairpin and giving the pegs a bit of a grinding were some of the highlights of the day, too.
Edit: There was a guy on a BMW F650GS that was flying around too, was pretty impressed...
