Anyone using or used the ContiMotion tyres? A set of these has been quoted to me at about $60 cheaper than a pair of PR2's so I'm wondering if the saving is worth it. Only used for commuting and weekend spirited riding, no track days etc

I do'nt like them. My Hornet had a newish one on the rear, and a worn road attack front. I swapped them out for pp2ct straight away.

I'd rather road attacks or pilot roads over the motion-the price is so close why bother with the cheapies?

TSS are selling them at $380 a set.

I can't go past that, so I'm spooning a set on next week.

I'll be comparing them the Sportec M1s that are onboard.

Your report JD will be interesting as a set of Sport Attacks were $620, which was a bloody good deal. most other places I got quotes from were up to $750 so I'm interested in the ContiMotions but waiting for someone to comment on them.

I just did, I picked my bike up in Wellington, rode it to Tauranga which included a good run up the Kaimais, then back on up to Auckland.

Could'nt wait to swap it out.

Others may have a different view to it of-course

I have run the Motions and they were ok BUT the made in Korea on the front tyre was enough to make me not push the front hard although it never misbehaved , ok in the wet too . Got pretty much to the edge of the rear and about 5mm of the edge of the front . If your bgb lines are bigger then that you'll be fine .

about $60 cheaper than a pair of PR2's so I'm wondering if the saving is worth it.It won't be. I've driven or ridden on Michelins on and off for twenty five years, and nothing has ever been as predictable, sure-footed, mis-treatable, or long-lasting as the Michelins.

TSS are doing them for $380 a set.

Compare that with Pirelli Angels at $584 and Avon VP2s at $660 and then guess what's going on the Shiver next week.

I'll be doing a comparison with the Avon Storms that I'm currently running and the Dunlop Qualifiers that were on the Shiver as OEM.

Motions, on the second set, push them hard in all weathers. You MUST ensure that they are at the right pressure 39-42 not the 36 that bike manufacturers recommend.

Thank you sir! Long time no see.

39-42

Is that 39 front, 42 rear, Mike?

Yes, found that that works best for all the contis, except for the track.

WARNING: Conyi-Motions are not to be used on track days!! Get another set of tyres.

So your going with the pirellis right? LOL. Cummon it's $200 difference and you get great tyres, rather than average at best tyres......

Nice, that would have been my choice too

I'm sorry mate, but Mangell's recommendation carries more weight than your condemnation.

What pressures were you running, and what size Hornet are you riding?

I would'nt go far as condemnation! I was just dissatisfied with it.
By all means you may like it. My experience with it was'nt a great one, and I far prefer the michelins i'm running now.

900, and 36/42.

Even if the Contis only last for 8,000km, the Pirellis would have to do close to 16,000km to warrant the additional spend. The jury is still out on the Angels too.

True, i'm trying not to be sucked into the gimmock with the Angels.....

I guess it also depends on what your requirements are too. I'm more interested in wet and dry performance rather than mileage. (obviously it's important still but I still put performance first)

Particularly when there's no reason given.

Why didn't you like it? (i cant say THEM because you only had it on the rear with a worn front). What was the problem?
