Mmmmm yerrr...I've had a few "interesting" landings over the years - mostly in Wellington.

The worst was actually in Hamiltron believe it or not. The runway there runs across the prevailing wind - very sensible I'm sure. Landing in a 737 (back when they used to come to the Tron). Got a large windshear just on touchdown...never heard so many arseholes go "TWOING!!!!" at the same time...the passengers actually broke into applause once we were down. Never seen that before. Or since. Not that I miss it at all you unnerstand...

and sit down and watch them land on my layovers...
The first time I went into Kai Tak, I nearly shit myself....I was sitting at 3R 747-200 watching Laundry and windows for a few seconds....
I was glad to get on the ground that evening.....

There was some nice flying in there. The very last one was particularly close though. They were very, very low when they went for go-around power. I though they were going to sink onto the runway. A wee bit of luck involved in that one me thinks.

Wellington Airport is good at throwing in some hairy moments. Especially as you can't see the runway until the last few seconds.
