View Full Version : Bye-de-byes ER6n... Hello?

My gorgeous little ER6n is on the very brink to going to a new home. I know it will be dearly loved and cared for, so I am not so sad.

Now you think that I would be very excited, elated and extremely fidgety about the idea of getting a “new to me” bike.

I am, kinda, sorta…..well not really…… I am actually very apprehensive, uneasy and even panicky. Why?

Being a shortarse 5’.511811023622047” to be exact, and the fact that I am adamant that my next bike will not be lowered too much as it does compromise handling, rules out a number of bikes for me.

And

After a little visit to Bayride and firmly planting my arse cheeks on a Ducati Monster 696 six or so months ago, I coveted the little Monster ever since. But as the time to start the test riding looms closer, my desire for it has waned.

Also

I was thinking about a change, I have always ridden nakeds – all of two, and would like to ride a “sportier” faired bike. But a comment was made about the “type” of rider I am.

I am a naked rider. Is there such a thing?
Am I destined to forever ride naked?
If I go faired is it going to be like learning to ride all over again?

Anyway

Here is my test riding list so far…..
Ducati 696
GSXR 750
Triumph Street Triple
Aprilia Shiver 750
KTM 690

As you can see there is only one sportie sport faired bike. I am looking for the “next step up” from the ER. Because I am a lazy arse and can’t be arsed doing my own in depth research, are there any others I should consider?

Even though your arse is closer to the ground than mine, Stirts, I reckon you'll find the gixxer sem fiddy comfortable and easy to manouever.
Definitely recommend test riding one. There are some good deals out there at the moment for K6-K7 sem fiddys

I know this will sound a bit strange but what about a Honda VFR.

I'm dreaming about my next bike and I seem to switch between a street triple and a VFR.

VFR may sound a bit strange at first but its a sports tourer.

I think that a naked rider by definition is the more upright seating position where as faired usually means hunched over the petrol tank.

Sports tourer sits between the two (upright position with fairing).

Having ridden the Monster I know why you liked it, and I'm a naked girl too.... however I am rather fond of the hubby's Gixxer (Did I just say that?)

Hmmmmmmmmm not bad looking either is it, will have to see it in the flesh. But Sports Tourers, I hadn't even considered, but certainly will now. Fanks.

Isn't that just a prettier version of the ER6n. Wanting a little more grunt.

Leaning towards the Stweet Twiple more so than the Shiver, but I haven't seen the Shiver in the flesh and may have to go out of TGA to see/test ride one.

Yes I have read the threads and look forward to experiencing the ride of a single, and to see if it comes with a happy ending.

Moy question is.... naked or not, what kind of riding do you do? 150k's on a sunny Sunday or 500k+ to visit your mates three times a week.
I would have to go for a triple though, never ridden one & they look really good FUN!

Nah most of my tallness  is in my body, my legs suffer from midgetism!

I ride upto Aucks once a month (at least) which is 220kms door to door. And generally get a ride in on the weekend. And as a minimum it is a stint over to the Okoroire and back - about 98kms.

I work 4kms from home so don't commute.

Yes the Striple is on the list to test ride. There are a couple of guys here in Tauranga who own and adore theirs. The big fat grins on their face when they take their helmets off is kind of a giveaway that they are FUNBAGS.

Hey chicky!

You're taller than me, so even with your midgety legs we probably have about the same stretch & I fit on both the CBR600RRrrrrrr  and the ZX6  just fine (not flat foot, but managable)

Edit: oh and yes the striple is loads of fun!

Hey you, I would have thought that after sitting on the girlz bike that you would have been straight down to the shop to get one:shifty:

Sit on naughties bike (I know its a honda) its a fantastic ride and you would have no problem touching the ground:stupid:

Hah! You are tall  I dare say lofty even, compared to me :bleh:

I really liked the look of the Shiver, but that little Speed Triple is not a bad looker either. Watch though that you can reach the controls with both your hands and feet  That is my biggest challenge :pinch:
